@MattH9396 I'm on my second day today. I'm not quite sure yet because I'm on the lowest dose (18 mg) and I'm also on 1mg for guanfacine cuz I have slightly high blood pressure. I'll update you later on how it's going :)

Every time I hear "subclinical", I wince. This happens, because in my country questionnaires are still optimized for hyperactive boys. Add the fact that girls still suffer much more pressure towards socially acceptable behaviour and you won´t wonder, why so many women get misdiagnosed as subclinical.

Dr.Barkley can you please make a video about the neuroadaptation and impact on cognition in long-term use of adhd medication.

I’ve noticed a lot Nordic research on ADHD focuses on the minorities in (numerically not ancestral) ADD and more novelty ideologies. Thanks for posting!

Dr. Barkley, I am a 33 year old male who was diagnosed with ADHD 2 years ago. Since then my psychiatrist, therapist and I have done a lot of work in addressing ADHD, including medications. Unfortunately none of the typical ADHD stimulants agree with me. They all give me extreme anxiety. In your experience what do people with ADHD typically do when traditional medications don’t work for them?

Curious, knowing that the executive function of a person with ADHD is about 30% less than their peers, what would be an effective age to try cognitive and behavioral therapy? My son has ASD level 1 and ADHD (inattentive at school, hyperactive at home with anxiety). We are still trying to find a medication that works for him. He has not been open to therapy or gives flat answers like "I am good." I am willing to do all I can to help him function.

Can you discuss (or direct me to previous video/resources that cover) ADHD with comorbid OCD? Specifically I am wondering if stimulant medication can worsen OCD, though I know it's more likely that treating ADHD can "untangle" symptoms from comorbid disorders and make remaining symptoms more obvious. Also, if ADHD and "pure O" OCD (misnomer) are more commonly co-morbid. I saw a very compelling video about a theory that untreated/misunderstood ADHD in childhood (where symptoms had to be suppressed with maladaptive coping) can cause OCD and I really relate to that. It's already been studied that OCD onset is significantly earlier in people with ADHD. Anyway, I trust you more than any other authority on ADHD but I couldn't find a lot from you on OCD.

After some cursory searching, I don't see much content addressing the phenomenon of centrality deficits in individuals with ADHD. Is this something you've discussed before on your channel? I've found a couple of studies looking into this, but would appreciate learning more.

Hey! I heard lately that some studies have found a link between aggravated ADHD symptoms and traumatic events, going as far as saying that it might be part of the etiology of the disorder, on the same level of genetic predisposition. I heard that from my ergotherapist who went to an international ADHD conference in Geneva, Switzerland. What do you think of it?
@russellbarkleyphd20232 ай бұрын
Maybe head trauma. But emotional trauma alone does not lead to ADHD but ADHD can lead to experiencing more adverse life events and hence even PTSD which can make inattention worse.

Thanks for this interesting comments. I ‘d like to know whether methylphenidate or emphetamins have been tested on subclinical population and if so, do they feel less impaired like a clinical group after treatment ?

Is there a connection between tinnitus and ADHD? I’ve had tinnitus since childhood and have been recently diagnosed with ADHD as an adult. I’ve come across some literature that says it is connected. Just wondering your opinion about it. Thanks for all you do!

Aubrey but it’s hard.y well established at this time. One study suggested it was mainly linked to the inattention dimension of ADHD and not to its other dimension of impulsivity. But even that did not involve,CE c,inica,my

Hey doc, two questions - what about adhd and anxiety and agarophobias. And does atomexitine cause panic attacks or worsen them and will it help me in my academics cause stimulants are not available in my place and I have anxiety and getting extra anxiety when I have to teach, I've taught before but now am getting it more. It's more like an overwhelming feeling with mind blanking while explaining to the students. I've had to cancel classes cause I couldn't talk so i walked out but I tried to re enter the classroom i couldn't. Is it adhd or anxiety?
