The Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man was indeed made up for Ghostbusters, but that wasn't the original plan. It was written with the Pillsbury Dough Boy in mind, but whoever was in charge of Pillsbury marketing at the time thought that having their lovable mascot stomping around destroying a city would be bad for business. That was probably a bad call and they were probably fired after that.

also temple of doom was the first indiana jones movie i saw as a little kid when i was like 6 maybe and also saw it in english and couldn't read subtitles fast enough so i only had the vaguest understanding of what was going on... i thought heart being ripped out was very cool and also i thought everything that happened in the temple was a dream... i think temple of doom is very problematic in many ways but also... i like it a lot... willie best girl

Possibly a little of what's termed 'Hollywood Accounting' going on, which Wikipedia says 'refers to the opaque or creative accounting methods used by the film, video, and television industry to budget and record profits for film projects.' The orangutan story is still up in the air. People that were on set say that it never happened, and the fact groups like PETA are the ones broadcasting it definitely make me very skeptical about if it’s true. If people beat an animal to death for 20 minutes, I won’t feel any sympathy if a cruel fate should befall them. That being said, the concept of someone beating an orangutan to death for sneaking donuts is kinda hilariously ridiculous and evil.
