I'm not sure I've ever seen a weevil in the wild. At least not knowingly! I think I'll try to be on the lookout for some this summer!

I never noticed how cute they are! The fuzzy one made me make a squeak of glee! Maybe river dolphins would make a good video. They’re the only dolphin that can turn their heads and they’re pink! Kinda

We have these twerpy little green weevils where we live. For some reason they always manage to get in our house. So I'm kept busy with the bug jar. :)

Oh yeah I find these guys sometimes when I go foraging for walnuts. Actually mostly all the wild walnuts will have weevils though they stay in the green part. When ever I crack one open I usually will find at least 3 if not 50 grubs if the walnuts really rotten.

I think it's kind of rude to imply that prehistoric weevils are not "true" weevils. If anything, shouldn't they be the truest weevils of all?? Since they have been around the longest. What happened to seniority??! Greatly disappointed in weevil scientists everywhere for this huge oversight.

Hi Animal Fact Files guys. I'm a writer of fiction and I'd like to know more about the developing of jaws--or whatever they have--in weevil larvae. So the tiny organism barely emerged from the egg gets pitched against the rough but nourishing reality outside: how equipped to handle this is it at the 'start'? I imagine newborn jaws need food to harden but, on the other hand, they can't get food if not hard enough. Is it conceivable that the larva uses the moisture of its own body to soften the coveted target? Could anyone knowledgeable elaborate a bit on this process which I find fascinating (i.e., survival as transfer of hardness from outside inside)? Anticipated thanks.
