This is probably in my top 10 favorite songs of all time. This the first time I ever heard someone proudly singing about being a nerd. X-Men and D&D references in the first verse on a dope ass track like this flipped a switch in my brain that let me know it was okay to be myself and be proud of who I am. Many years later and all that nerdy shit is now considered cool.

The thing I love about this song is how personal it seems through the lyrics like the garage is this sacred place where the lead singer can be himself completely without judgement. But how we can all connect to this need, this want for a space to be able to be ourselves. I think that’s why this is my favorite song by Weezer. It encapsulates this feeling and let’s us express our need for our own space through music even if we don’t have that space. We can sing along and share that space with them

You're right on the mark. They put a lot into their music; just 'cos Rivers isn't writing lyrics like he did on Pinkerton doesn't mean he's got no emotion, but rather that he's more or less grown up. You can't really expect someone, who is married and in their 40's, to keep writing songs about having his heartbroken or being insecure. Musically bands/people change. Heck, if you listen to Weezer's demos pre-blue album, they sound very different. Saw 'em too, they rocked even in the pouring rain!
