i know theres a lot of ancient comments here shitting on the way rivers sings here and the drum loop etc but this feels like one of the most raw things we get out of the green era. hearing a song that in its final cut is so edited and refined just recorded as one man tape recording garbage is pretty endearing, and makes it feel like a more personal song. that's just my 2 cents

I love the sound of it. A rare moment of rawness from that period. There is something rich about this demo, it actually sounds like the Blue Album era. I can imagine the band and maybe even the studio hearing the demo, nodding their heads and knowing they had a hit on their hands!

This would have been a fantastic version of the song if it wasn't unfortunately recorded in Rivers' Oasis phase. Still love the instruments though, especially the synth on the bridge.

IITS was written with the Summer Songs 2000. I think that's why it has much more personality than most of the rest of Green. With SS2K Rivers was trying to craft perfect pop/rock, with Green Rivers was trying to communicate musically without using emotion. That's why I think the tracks on Green that were written during the Summer of 2000 (Always, Brightening Day, Hash Pipe) have way more personality than the mechanical blandness Coulms was going for at the time of Green.

I'm not sure Rivers has the power in his voice to sing like Liam Gallagher, (squeaky tenor lol) so he goes the nasal route instead. Which is a characteristic of Liam's singing but not all there is to it.

I personally disaggree. I really like the softer instrumentation and the higher key (i dont really know what key tho, im just a drummer). I do agree that Rivers sounds off tho. Too nasal (Thank you Liam). Yes i know this comments 11 years old.
