I love this album It’s always been my favourite weezer album Maybe even one of my all time favourites Each song carries its own memory for me I got into the album through troublemaker making it rather nostalgic Then I constantly looped pork and beans And it was the first song I learned on the bass (my first instrument) So on, so on And a few months ago I listened to all of the deluxe tracks And I’ve gotta say They only make me like this album ever more The spider Is the lyrically best if not best weezer song to date IMO So I thank you for making this video I thank you for this appreciation on the album It’s not perfect and I know this but maybe not everything needs to be a work of art like spider Maybe all am album needs to be Is something that sounds good and something YOU yourself like And THANK YOU for talking about Dreamin’ I love this song I think it’s secretly underrated And all I can say to end off this message I hope weezer do a red album 20th anniversary tour in 4 years… Thank you Moiyo❤

(long-ass comment incoming) Gotta admit, I really wish they replaced Cold Dark World with King. Dumb lyrics or not, King I think is a much better track and Scott's vocals are a lot better suited with the way the song goes. I agree completely with you The Angel and The One as well, I thought I would be disappointed after the garbage that came beforehand but it's honestly a really beautiful track. If the rest of the album is about Rivers creating some otherworldly godlike persona, I feel like AatO is him coming to the conclusion that that's not what he is, and he's just him and he has to accept it. Weird how Spotify doesn't have a Deluxe version of the Red Album and they just add the bonus tracks to the end. Angel and the One is probably my favorite album closer by them, even if the bonus tracks are good.

I discovered Weezer through this album. After hearing Pork and Beans on the radio, I bought the album on CD. While it may not be their best album, I liked it enough to look into more of their discography. The Greatest Man That Ever Lived definitely has some influence from Green Day, mainly the multi-part song concept. Rivers pulls it off flawlessly. Probably my favorite on the album.
@Dave..1978-i9t3 жыл бұрын
Influence from Green Day?? I doubt it. Im 43 and I bought Dookie and the Blue album pretty much in the same week. Both were contemporaries. Contemporaries dont take from one another. If Weezer are taking from anyone it's more likely to be the Beach Boys or The Jam (Google them!) Influences are established during a writer's teenage years and Billy Joe isn't fit to lace Rivers' boots. Trust me....... Green Day NEVER influenced Weezer.

I just spent the last week re-discovering Weezer, listening to every album they've released up to Ok Human, and the Red Album sits in my Top 3 -- quite possibly No.1 This is their Sgt. Pepper, in my opinion. The variation between tracks is wonderful, from the marathon of styles covered on The Greatest Man That Ever Lived, to flat out yahoo rockers (Everybody Get Dangerous is fuckin' KICK-ASS!), to the beauty of Heart Songs, to the epic grandeur of The Angel and the One. I also LOVE that every member of the band took a lead vocal on the album and really wish they had continued that going forward. I don't know how anyone, especially fans of Weezer, could dislike their Red Album. It's wonderfully solid in every measure in my estimation.
@SilviaFoxtrisPriv3 жыл бұрын
Thought I Knew was originally made as a song for Brian's band The Relationship, the song was given a more poppy tone when it was put on the Red Album. Thought I Knew would later make it to a Relationship album with a more sombre tone that sounds much more inviting. A lot of the other songs sung by other band members were originally demo'd with Rivers vocals, in fact a full version of Cold Dark World with Rivers's vocals was released alongside the Raditude iTunes pass, this version really improves the song for some people. Personally, I really like the end half of Red, I love hearing the other band members have their time in the spotlight, and the sound of the later tracks is just really nice. Wish you covered the Deluxe tracks, such as The Spider, Pig and King. They really made the album for me personally.

Great Video! I'm a huge fan of Weezer and I see the Red album as one of their best works, so I thought this was a great piece. My only criticism is that you didn't go into the earlier tracks more, like talking about Troublemaker delving into some of the origins for Weezer (Rivers becoming a metalhead in his teen years by picking up that guitar) and more info on the events from his youth that were described in Everybody Get Dangerous. I would like to see you talk about the bonus tracks; Miss Sweeny and King are some of the greatest Weezer tracks. I want to see more content from you!

I love this album so much, honestly more than Blue (not Pinkerton though). Troublemaker, Greatest Man, and Pork & Beans are just full of so much swagger and have a ton of charisma. All three are strong highlights and make up one of the best opening sequence songs in their catalogue. Heart Songs is absolutely beautiful. I barely know half of the references to cringe at the lyrics, so I see it more of a cute song talking about Weezer’s success and influences. I forgot Everybody get Dangerous existed. I deleted this song because it’s so ugly. This song can sit with In The Mall, Let it all hang out, and Time Flies in their pantheon of worst songs ever. Shame, as without this song, album could’ve been a ten. Dreamin’ is one of my favorites. Absolutely orgasmic and I like the lyrics. The melody is amazing. Thought I knew is okay to me. Song is pretty generic. I like his vocals but the lyrics and progression is bland. Cold Dark World is just hilarious, I like it. The instrumentation is nice, but not one of the best. Automatic is pretty nice. I like Pat’s singing and the progression. The groove is nice. Now...the Angel and the one...THE ANGEL AND THE FUCKING ONE. Best song off the record and puts Only in Dreams to shame. I love it a lot. Top 3 weezer track. The bonus tracks though...Miss Sweeney is really sweet, Pig is kinda boring, The Spider is pretty somber and beautiful, and King is one of their best songs as well. Of course, that’s just my two cents.

Some story : Red and Maladroit were my introduction to Weezer when I was a kid, especially Pork and Beans was one of my memories of the internet in 2000s. I just rediscover them lately and I recognized some songs that are not singles in each album like King, The Angel and The One, and The Greatest Man That Ever Lived (Red) also Take Control, American Gigolo, and December (Maladroit). The point I tried to convey was that, in terms of Weezer's discography, the album tends to be underappreciated/frowned upon in the fandom when I feel there are a lot of quality tracks that outweigh any filler. At least, that is what I've gathered when discussing with other fans, browsing music forums, etc. I think Red Album deserves a higher ranking than what it is generally given, hence, "Hidden Gem."

Pacific daydream is straight up underrated and the only reason people hate on it is because they either a) didn't get what they hoped for back when it dropped, dismissing it as garbage just for having a dense pop sound, or b) because they are bandwagoning. The only albums I consider worse than red that I can think of on the spot are teal, green and black. The rest is on par or better.
