These guys must have watched a lot of manufactured pop/R&B stars. Sure, there is an important place for full range vocal stars, but a lot of us want the original artists that do their own song writing and lyrics. They seem to kind of miss the point at times of being a personal experience over a public performance.

The “garage” sound of these bands was a feature, not a bug… it stems from the punk, diy aspects of ‘alternative’ music at the time, they purposely didn’t want to sound overproduced or over polished. Most iconic rock bands don’t have virtuoso singers, the Stones, Bowie, Rush, AC/DC, Black Sabbath, Chilli Peppers, Roger Waters from Pink Floyd, etc… it’s really more about ‘the feel’ of the song vs perfect technique.
@texashookem22 Жыл бұрын
Not everyone is trying to sing like Dimash. Just cause it’s not the most “beautiful” by certain world metrics doesn’t mean someone “can’t sing”. I’d rather hear rough vocals with feeling and meaning than empty perfect pitches any day!

Rivers is brilliant. He loved the Beach Boys and stylistically he adopts the nerdy vibe of Brian Wilson and 1960s rock-pop era vocals, but he doesn't copy it because it don't go today (or in 1992), he's adapting it. It's so clever and he uses it for effect and it just makes the tune. You may laugh at it, but it's genius and it grabs you and it's intentional.
