there's actually some important context to the 2002 osaka incident. there was a group of buddhists holding swastika flags in the crowd and rivers misinterpreted them as nazis, so he said that in order to mock them. still a really dumb move but at least he wasn't trying to troll

It always seemed to me that what happened with blue and Pinkerton happened with green and maladroit, they made a poppy album but wanted to make something more serious, heavy, and raw after the simplicity of the album that came before

i always felt like maladroit was pretty much summer songs 2k if it was actually recorded, with slob being one of those ss2k songs that’s were abandoned. makes sense that it feels more natural from pinkerton since it kinda was the next step from pinkerton that was abandoned for green.

It’s kinda trippy to think that this album will turn 20 this year. I return to it every now and then, and it’s a pretty good listen. I do prefer the music video mix of Keep Fishin’, but the album version does fit the general vibe of the album better. Also this video reminded me of just how chaotic the Maladroit era was for Weezer, Rivers was untamed… good video

I love this album, i started listening to it at the edge of a really bad time in my life. Before i could hardly listen to music, but at the time it was like finding something that was exclusively for myself that has no attachments to anything. It reminds me of a time where 'things are getting better' and the long drives i would take to meet up with my now husband. its so silly but these tracks gave me the strength to attempt to have something new, and to just start being authentic without sabotaging myself
