This is a follow up to a post I put up on several of my social media platforms. We had hundreds of guesses. Well here is your answer! 12v, 14v, and 16v batteries, all between 12, 14 and 16 years old.😁Most are dead from neglect more than just old age. A bunch were laying around the shop taking up space. 8 of the 16v were in the DGAF Tercel and some D3100 AGM 12v were from the Tahoe as far back as 2008. 10 of the 14v batts were bought used from Scottie J. himself from XS Power (already past their prime) and then I put almost a decade on them before they sat another several years under my shelf. They are all GREAT batteries whose time has come. 25 total and i probably still own at least 25-30 more @4xspower that are still alive and well in various vehicles. Did you guess the weight and how much they gave me (from the previous post)? How close were you? Leave a comment and thanks for watching if you did!

Always great to recycle things like that, not only for the environment, (right thing to do), but also because of the $$ that you can get for it... COPPER wire too, (NOT just CCA), will bring you decent money in recycling, probably worth your time to take to a recycling center if you have a good size pile of scraps! I always recycle everything and anything I can, even stuff that doesn't really pay anything to, just because it's good to do to help out your community.

going rate for battery cores here in L.A. county is $10 per core/battery

I got between $8 and $11.30 for these (by weight) depending on which battery (several sizes on this pallet)

In Michigan you can get 3 bucks up to 22 bucks per battery depending on where you take it and what you have. But most of the time it’s 4 or 5 bucks for old unwanted batteries

Steve they were yours to do/sell to whoever you want to. If you’re happy with that amount then I applaud your decision to go to that recycler. Besides look at how much space in the shop you can put to some other use.

Damn good ideal. I have 4 taking up space never to be used in anything anymore. I guess my compulsive pack rat ways wouldn't let me discard them but I'm motivated now!

Damn bro you got screwed I have like 15 different scrap buyers around me within 100 miles last car battery’s I had got 300 bucks for 900lbs of batteries I took in. 33 to 30 cents a pound. and that’s kinda low imo. Real low
@meade9162 ай бұрын
actually, you got paid on the VERY HIGH side if you are actually telling the truth. What I got paid is pretty average at just under .15 cents per lb. It would have been nice to get a couple pennies more but saying I got "screwed" is nonsense. You are either full of sh.t or VERY lucky. .10-.15 cents is actually normal.

@meade9162 ай бұрын
walmart is not going to take a pallet of batteries in one sitting. You probably have to make several trips to different walmarts. And for what? a couple extra bucks? Some of my batteries netted over $11 so you are talking about almost nothing.
@DatBlueHusky2 ай бұрын
you got scammed for that amount. Those would have sold around $500.
@meade9162 ай бұрын
i highly doubt that. You have never recycled a pallet of batteries so you wouldn't know. But thanks for your random input anyway :)
@DatBlueHusky2 ай бұрын
@@meade916 you say like i dont work for a recycling center lmfao, They pay $0.55 per lb here so looks like you got scammed big time. Either way its not like you need the money anyways
@meade9162 ай бұрын
@@DatBlueHusky I highly doubt that. I have several batteries that are 77lbs each on this pallet. No way in hell your "recycling center" is going to give someone $42+ dollars for a dead Group 31 battery.
@meade9162 ай бұрын
@@DatBlueHusky i just did the math and I think I got paid close to .15 cents per lb. I looked it up and that seems to be about the national average. So maybe your aluminum can recycling center pays more than average , I don't know. But I wouldn't say I got "scammed". If you guys are really paying .55 per lb then you are paying more than anyone in the USA. Either way, I really don't GAF.
