Hi Kyle, I’m looking at buying a 1ton dump or a 5ton dump to haul my mini ex and skid steer, not at the same time as I only have a 16ft float atm, and I’ve been hauling with either my f250 or my 1500 dodge when the ford is broke down, (most of the time) I think the 5ton truck may be a better choice but then I have to worry about my license restrictions, only have a regular G, I hear that I’m good if the truck doesn’t have air. But I don’t know for sure. Anyhow great video

either way with a 1 ton dump or 5 ton dump i'd estimate you'd be very close to over 26k gross so either way in any state you'd need a CDL class A. You'd need a class A because its a combined weight, (truck and trailer). My duramax, with gooseneck, skid and harley rake weighs 28k. Truck wieghs about 9, skid, 12, trailer 6 and rake weighs 1500. You'll be better off in the long run if you get a cdl and get at least a tandem. You can move so much more. Just my 2 cents! Good luck and thanks for watching

Does it help to put your bucket in your dump box? We typically do, especially if we have multiple buckets

My tandem truck is 21,500 tare with an 18K front end, so I'm always good there. If I'm loading with a small loader, I can favor the front and get away with a 14K payload, but with pit loaders centering on the 16' box I limit at about 12.75t, maybe 13t if an officer is feeling generous. At 47,300 gross, I'm 33,800 lbs. on the drivers, just under the limit of 34K. And portable scales vary a bit from fixed base, both vary somewhat from the pit scales. Days I spend hauling I generally go a bit light..would rather give away a trip than take a hit on my CSA. Wish we could get away with using that method to chain tracks - here they like to see them cross-chained to the pads, which I don't necessarily agree with, rather go to the frame or similar to your method. I travel a fair amount of bad roads, when off in the boonies I generally re-chain to a less approved but more secure method.

That truck is tagged at 72k. Yes on the heavy use tax. Definetely worth it.
