The World Health Organization confirms that a plant-based diet is superior yet some people still argue that you need meat for good health. I haven't had animal protein an almost four years and manage to recover from my workouts quickly, never get sick, so much energy, sleep like a baby and better performance when training. Animal agriculture is barbaric and super unnecessary and I'm ready for it to disappear. Happy Monday everyone. =)

Well done ❣️❣️ I agree with you 100% I have been healed from cancer and overweight through a WPD Anyone who says it doesnt work for everyone has not been committed to work through the stages of weaning themselves off animal food cravings. Saying it doesnt work is just an excuse to carry on with their bad habits

@Berserker if you cant eat plants it because you ate to many pesticides and antibiotics. Antibiotics and pesticides bio-accumulat in animals fats. Fish farms also use tons of antibiotics that they dump in the water. Here in Norway we have a huge problem of salamon fish farms dumping so much antibiotics into the ocean. If you have a healthy microbiome everyone can eat raw plants.

@Berserker I'm aware that part of the world are not able to fully adopt a plant-based diet. Rosalba Pena I might be remembering the numbers inaccurately but it doesn’t matter, the basic premise is still true. Every gram of fiber burns 7 calories...Just think about that. So all these fiber rich, nutrient dense foods (WFPB foods are tops in both categories across the board) are ALSO the lowest in calories to BEGIN with, and that is BEFORE the act of eating all that fiber burns at a rate similar to what I mentioned. WFPB fiber is the weightloss wingman we need!

I'm vegan and I'm 20 lbs heavier than when I ate low-carb three years ago. 😞 I blame binging due to emotional eating, and a sedentary lifestyle. I just got a physical after 2.5 years being vegan, and my cholesterol went from 215 to 167. B12 not too high or low. All my other health markers are in the normal range, except for my higher (though still considered "normal") bmi. 😓 Again, it's because I eat too much and don't exercise. I've no doubt that if I stop eating my feelings and get moving that I can be a healthier weight, again. All the fiber in the world is no match for emotional eating. Just saying.

I've been vegan for almost two years and have gone from 365 lbs or so to 270. I owe a lot of it to WFPB but at the end of the day, I had to start consistently tracking calories to stay in a deficit to lose weight. I'm a binge eater and the idea of being able to eat as much as I want of any kind of food is like giving a crack addict a pipe. I've watched and listened to Greger, McDougall, and the others talk about this kind of thing but none of their recommendations worked for me. I don't fault them, as I understand most folks couldn't overeat whole food plants, but that's just how I am. Food for me is a weapon of self-destruction and if I'm not striving to stay accountable with it, I'll hurt myself. That said, sticking to a calorie limit is certainly easier with this diet. I never could get to the "lifestyle change, not a diet" mindset of weight loss until going vegan and now that I have, it's all become second nature. Weight loss is no longer a war or a struggle. It's really just a matter of patience.

Now I am eating almost half of what I used to eat before, even on a vegan diet. Eating less (enough to fill me up and feel satiated) has made me a lot more energetic. Before cos I was consuming so much food I used to be lethargic cos so much energy was spent in digestion. Intermittent fasting didn't work for me. I eat breakfast between 9-10am, lunch by 1-2 and dinner by 7-8pm. Feeling great.

I need to loose 20 to be a optimal weight for my age.... why?... a year ago I did Keto and lost 20 pounds and maintained until ai chose to switch to plant based. Now my high bLood pressure is back.... if this is so right why am I getting sicker?

Jenny S. If you don’t mind me asking, what sorts of foods do you eat?
@luna40255 жыл бұрын
@@earthmamma85 I make alot of vegetables soups and alternate adding lentils or whole wheat pasta in there and I eat that through out the week for lunch. For breakfast I was eating and I say I was because I cut it out now since I gained so much Weight, I was eating oatmeal plain and adding frozen fruit or maybe a piece of toast with beans or avocado, I cut out rice out as well. I eat beans salads, and maybe I eat one to many corn chips. I also cook curry maybe every 2 weeks that's where the rice was coming in but I haven't had any in 3 weeks now. And I do alot of the cooking so no junk vegan food.

Jenny S. Get rid of the chips, toast, pasta (even though it may be whole grain), rice and any dairy, assuming you’re using dairy in your soups or curries, etc. Also you didn’t say anything about exercise, but even if you just walk 20-30 mins/day, that will help burn calories. My final suggestion is to consider using Alli, the diet pill, which I suggested to someone else. For me, this is what kick started things in a bigger way and while I probably wont do the pills for much longer, it helps a lot and also teaches you not to eat fatty foods. I wont get too graphic, but if you eat fat, comes out in a bit of a messy fashion with Alli, which for me was a quick indicator that I ate too much fat with that specific meal. Perfect poops means perfect diet. Funny but true!
@earthmamma855 жыл бұрын
Jenny S. It sounds like you’re eating pretty well. Maybe you have just increased your calories now since going plant based? Oatmeal and berries are a great breakfast, that will actually help maintain and loose weight. So don’t cut that out. Try cutting back on the pastas. Eat lots of greens, lots of lower calorie veggies and fruits, foods high in fiber and nutritional value. Higher fat foods like nuts and avocados can mess with your weight so maybe ease up on those. Say no to as much processed oils, and sugars as you can. I know it’s easy to get discouraged but please don’t give up on plant based eating. Just try adjusting your foods here and there. Weight is very easy to put on but it takes longer for it to come off so give it time. Focus on Whole Foods

I've been vegan for almost a month now. And yeah, I have lost weight. My weight used to be like a yoyo. Up 2kg (4.4lbs) down 2kg (4.4lbs) and so on. Since I still live with my parents trying to make them eat the same thing as I do is a big problem. Despite them needing the change MUCH more than I do. And since I can't cook at all, and mom really don't like someone cooking in "her" kitchen. I mostly eat salads. I mean it fills me up, and I'm not really walking around hungry. I used to really enjoy sallad. But it is getting really old. And I'm missing pizza alot. Cheese is a big part of pizza. I know it's addicting, not good for you and all. And making cheeseless pizza at home is not quite the same as that cheesy goodness you can order. Food overall has become quite boring and bland. And I don't enjoy eating. It just feels like a chore more so than before I became vegan. Pizza was one of the few things I looked forward to once a week. I could eat 4000kcal worth of pizza throughout the day. And that was the only thing I ate that day. The other days I ate a standard "healthy" diet. Atleast I thought. I'm 192cm (6'3) tall and weighed almost 99kg (218lbs) before I started. Now I weigh 93kg (205lbs). I mean the diet works. But I would like one day a week of "guilt free" eating. Where I can eat pizza with cheese for example. And the rest of the days I eat a healthy vegan diet. How would that affect my weighloss and health? Any thoughts?

You're craving these foods because you're not eating enough. If you just eat salad you will be hungry all the time. East lentil pasta, pea pasta, sauce made out of cashew nuts, beans etc. These foods keep you full and will minimise cravings;

It's possible eating any large quantities of food, unless you're a professional athlete or have a metabolic condition. However, if you eat sensibly, plenty of veggies, legumes, healthy fats & lots of fiber, & cut out the JUNK food altogether, then you can maintain a healthy weight for life!

I am an omnivore but can see the evidence that at a minimum vegan done properly can be good for health and especially regarding heart disease and diabetes it works. The problem is rather than continually promoting low energy veges maybe promote and explain the medium energy and high protein foods as in whole processed or not legumes and grains because this is important. Anyway just an idea. Also explain highly processed because highly processed can be good or bad, I regularly buy "highly processed" food because they have upped the fiber and protein content in bread products which isn't natural but actually it's nutritionally better than whole grain/meal and can add to that mineral or vitamin fortifications. Don't make people who like me were very sceptical scared because of promotion of something that's unachievable, promote the difference between a fortified bread versus fake meat which I am pretty certain is vegan junk food in most cases.
