I do 200 total reps weighted pull ups with 20kg added per week. Did nothing else for grip and i was able to do a one arm hold on the pull up bar for around 15 sec after only 2 weeks. Before this i trained my grip directly and was never able to do a one arm hold for even 10 seconds. So yeah pullups build grip.

Can do triple with 3 plates while being 82kg, they work for sure. What I noticed is that you didn’t do much lat work during your bulk in 2016-2017. Also why you see so much difference between then and now. If you had kept doing them regulary you would have had less progression margin and a better back then

How is your bodyweight day structured for pull ups?
@lafaders
@lafaders 5 жыл бұрын
@@unknownsource4359 My bodyweight day, I perform 4 sets of 7-10 reps... I switch my grip each set. (Pull Up, Chin Up, Wide Grip, Neutral) I perform each rep explosively. Full dead hang then explode up as fast as possible, full contraction at the top, lower with control. Repeat...After that i perform another 4 sets of isometric holds for 30 seconds each set with the same grips mentioned. Holding at the top squeeze and lock in with your core.

I think people tend to greatly underrate the completeness of pullups and chinups as back builders. I could easily see one being fine off of them alone. Probably varies person to person a bit. Like I got longer arms and I'm not built to externally rotate at all, so a row doesn't feel right unless my elbows are up against my sides, which makes it mostly lat anyways.

I stopped weighted pullups years ago and i wondered why i had middle back pain and also my biceps and lats were not as good as it used to. So i decided to install a pullup bar in my garage, cause i had nowhere to install it in my home gym, guys my lats and biceps are growing crazy even though i was still doing deadlifts and rack pulls and rows, but pullups are just changing everything ! and i neglected them. Plus my old numbers are coming back very quickly, the body doesn't forget even after 6 years ! Last thing : it removes back pain because it decompresses the spine, when we are doing all this heavy bar work it compresses it too much, and even if you have back pain you can still do pullups, which is not always the case for deadlifts and rows.

I personally have difficulty adding weight to my weighted pull-up from workout to workout, but I will say I did not do a weighted pull-up for nearly a year, it was only 40 lbs and my weighted chinup was 90x2. I didn’t really do a lot of pull-ups until March. I did stupid high volume bodyweight pull-ups 6-7 days a week every week until like July. I’m talking like 7 sets of 10 per day, greasing the groove method of one set every hour, plus my sets I would do in my actual workouts. Tested my weighted pull-up in July after only doing this period of bodyweight and it was over DOUBLE. Got 85 lbs, and my weighted chinup was an easy 100 lbs, despite not even doing chin-ups other than the occasional set

What I did was warm up your self to a 1 rep max. Ex.) 45lb 1 rep 70lb 1 rep 80lb 1 rep 100 or 115 1 rep. If ya cant pull on last two. Do negatives for at least 4 secs for reps. Then keep dropping down but adding volume in max reps since your CNS is warmed up. Doing this will help you rep that heavy now ya body got to get a feel for eth. Then keep climbing with extra weight to do negative Chins and pulls.

Reverse grip presses for triceps and pecs and weighted pull ups for biceps and back seem to be fantastic. Literally reverse presses will bring up your upper pecs like crazy and triceps. Neutral grip pulling with a narrow grip really build the biceps. I like the rack you are using I found pull ups felt best with weight. I would add the high rep 1 arm db row in there also 25+ reps. Between the two your back should be huge.
