15:12 That's Manfred Nerlinger. He lost a (part of his pinky I believe) finger close to the Olympics when jerking from iron blocks with 270ish and the weight rolled towards him. They say the doctor could have reattached it but he declined as he didn't need it much and the competition was 8-9 weeks out lol. He still has his online shop in Germany and sells great leather straps Edit: It actually was more than one part of his left ring finger

The lads got into their element on the c&j, it’s almost like they’re looking over their shoulders for the ioc assassins on the snatch portion

Man I like theses videos so much, I have nobody to watch weightlifting competitions with and the official commentary is usually someone describing what is happening on the screen, having people having a conversation while watching the competition makes it so much more interesting and also less lonely
@teiwaztim148213 күн бұрын
I feel the same! I provide my own commentary as well. not until now with WH is there actual lifters providing commentary. in any case, I prefer the sika lads to david goldstrom. I do like michayla breeze though!😊

It's a shame Tian didn't perform as he wanted to here.
@pateHNBTA9 ай бұрын
I think he's never had a competition where he did what he expected lol. Like, in terms of achieving main goals, probably 2019 was the only competition he performed insanely well. Though he missed his first 2 snatch attempts, so idk. In terms of the weights he was expecting to lift, maybe 2018? Idk, it's always curious what could have been his best ever total if he didn't miss that much.
@sikastrength9 ай бұрын
Still crazy that he ended up hitting 217kg though!
@AfferbeckBeats9 ай бұрын
@@pateHNBTAYeah I think it was Weightlifting House that showed he has the lowest success rate of any world record holder or something like that. He's like a slightly more consistent Su Dajin, these guys just miss everything til they don't, and that one lift will often be the death of everyone else.
@moyboy019 ай бұрын
You guys should look at the sports psychology for Motorsports. It’s not the most demanding S&C for the sport, but it demands a lot of precision. Rally racing is a very good example of the mental focus a driver needs.

Fitz is right. Stratford used to be a big working class area, and the Olympics construction demolished loads of council houses (social housing in London terms) nearby. Some people were bought out whilst others were told to leave to another council unit, but where there's already a massive waiting list for social housing in the city, the Olympics made the problem significantly worse. Ironically the vacation of the local community made the people who left there poorer off, and in some ways, the area surrounding the stadium has become more violent in recent years cause things have gotten more expensive but none of the money returns to the few people who could stay.

I'd agree, though the most reasonable time would be after you've attended. Both of those however are infinitely more understandable than powerlifters getting rings for... reasons (cough, Stefi Cohen, cough.)

The Leistungs are good shoes, and are unfairly maligned by a lot of lifters. I'd say they're definitely the last good lifting shoe Adidas made - but only if we're talking about the 16 BOA II, NOT the Rio Leistung with no laces. If the BOA goes on those, you're fucked. Too bad the red version of the 16 II BOA is basically unattainable - but they do exist.
@rageintruths9 ай бұрын
Rio was ZKC bars and plates. I'm disappointed in you.

30 minutes in, and now you're talking about ping pong. Normally, you guys are very on point with plenty of brief bits of humor and some irreverent commentary mixed with some very incisive technical analysis and my favorite part, the fashion ratings. But I'm still trying to decide if this particular episode is pure genius or if you are just trolling your entire audience. Ok, back to the video.

"The quality keeps going down". Does it though? We have Lasha lifting by far the most ever, and two or three others giving reasonable cracks at 220 snatches which no one else ever has. I don't think not training hard or well enough is the problem for the sport overall but the constant adjusting to changes due to all the corruption and doping and weight class changes. The past 8 years it seems most lifters have spent more time going up and down weight classes and competing every five minutes due to qualifying procedures than actually being in comfortably good shape.
