Weimar 1936 - Goethe-Häuser - Park an der Ilm - Belvedere

Weimar im Sommer 1936, gefilmt von einem Amateur-Kameramann aus Köln. Zu sehen sind einige Sehenswürdigkeiten der Kulturstadt in Thüringen, in der nicht nur Goethe wirkten, sondern im Jahr 1919 auch die Deutsche Nationalversammlung tagte und die erste Deutsche Demokratie aus der Taufe hob. The City of Weimar in summer 1936, filmed by an amateur cameraman from Cologne. In this clip we see some of the top sightseeing spots of the city of culture in the province of Thuringia where among others Goethe and Schiller lived. 1936 war sicher nicht die beste Epoche für Weimar. 😐 Aber zu Goethes und Schillers Zeiten war es sicher in vollster Blüte.

Buchenwald concentration camp is just outside of Weimar. Not built yet in 1936. Today in Weimar, you can visit Goethe's house, the Shakespeare of the German language, and the next day you can visit the crematoria at Buchenwald. German schizophrenia.

I'm from Weimar and it's kinda weird. Bauhaus was also invented there and so many import figures lived there, but also Buchenwald. There ist a huge memorial there on the side of a hill you can see from huge distance. It's probably one of the first things you'll see when you come to Weimar. At the same time Weimar only has like 60k inhabitants, so it's actually quite small
