The air temperature and relative humidity of the air matters in terms of the flow numbers. So does altitude, or better yet barometric pressure, which gets lower as you get higher above sea level. I believe what they machine is doing is it is calculating Standard CFM, which means it's adjusted for the air temperature, relative humidity and barometric pressure, giving you a number that is comparable at sea level with a standard air temperature and relative humidity, which I forget exactly what those figures are.

Not my specialty, but surface finish on a casting seems to be a function of two things: grade of casting sand, and the release agent used. Whether somebody figured out a better process or regulatory changes made some release agent obsolete, I have no idea. edit: Those profilers... those exhaust bolt locations make me think of a 1470 gasket more than a 1406. Can you confirm which is closer? Thanks.

What would happen if the runners were worked on the profiler simialer to the afr's
@gregmcnamara25633 жыл бұрын
The difference in casting finish is due to different casting technology. Sand cast (Lumpy, larger variances, slower production, and more expensive) versus investment casting such as lost foam casting (Cheaper, more accurate, faster, better surface finish, less machining). It enables them to produce more complicated castings with internal passages etc, with greater accuracy and no core shift. Almost all engine blocks, heads, driveline castings, and industrial equipment are now made that way. Check out some KZbin video’s on it.

How much power do you estimate you would gain with the profiler vs ik200 on a 388 sbc
This was great to see the Profiler-machined Profiler heads vs. my Jegs-rebranded Profiler 195cc heads. Obviously if you get them assembled the components from Profiler will be way better than whatever chinese parts are cheapest @ Jegs, but I didn't realize the difference in how the bowls are blended until this video. The nice hand-made burr bowl blend that Eric showed is WAY better than what looks like some machined grinding of any core shifting that sticks out into the bowl that my Jegs heads had. The Jegs heads were just cut maybe 1/2" into the bowl from the valve seat and that's it. There were some huge lips beyond that that never got addressed AND the machining was smooth. (It's my understanding that this is one of the more critical areas to have a rough texture to keep fuel in solution).

The Profiler exhaust ports ARE raised a lot, but the REAL problem with header fitment is that the bolt holes aren't centered on the port! There's basically NO off-the-shelf 1 5/8" header that won't block the "good air" at the top of the port with the bolt holes where they are. You have to weld and redrill or slot and fill header bolt holes or just step up to at least a 1 3/4" header with those stupid exhaust ports. -No reason for them not to revise where they put the exhaust bolt holes and just center them on the port so an off-the-shelf 1 5/8" header fits. I love my Profilers, but not having a header that fits anything worse of terribly just because they won't move a bolt hole is just inexcusable.

Another excellent video. I would like to see more information on Spring size and also how much difference is there blending the area from the valve seat to the chamber. I think it would be important to show your phone number and email address very plainly because it is really hard to make out and you sure earned it. Thanks

I have actually done that test with the assault head. I filmed it but haven’t released it yet.
