Caught a barbel in February from the same peg you had the hybrid. If you want bream there about a hundred yards down from the bridge there's some steel poles stick out far side of river and they say there's a big shoal of bream live there and they go to 10lb. Would love to be able to dredge the weir area and clear it out coz the potential is immense.

The area where your rod is over used to have a huge tree and bushes around the tree until they removed it. Also know a guy on that sandpeg that had 3 barbel out in one session. I've fished this stretch more than lakes last year and had alot of takes and barbel, only 1 chub and 1 bream. A matchman fishes in the little bay on opposite side and casts out to the main flow that you was fishing. Fishing top next to weir was insane, had to switch up with braid. Barbel feeding super confident sometimes, got snapped. Grabbed other rod put that in next to weir, snapped again new rig put on and then snapped again. Still yet to catch a double but it'll be special I'm sure

Great video, nice to see, I live a couple of miles up river from Sprotbrough and was fishing the weir from about 89 to 94, the NRA introduced the first barbel below the weir in 92, I used to fish the opposite bank on the island (used to be the Rotherham Book) as although it was still jungle warfare less snags, I gave up on match gear and best method for the barbel used to be touch ledger with a heavy avon rod right into the weir do or die tactics. It started getting packed with angles after the barbel so gave up on it, but seeing the video might give it another go.

Hi Jamie, really enjoyed this video. If nothing else it is reassuring to know that I'm not the only one who can get excited at catching gudgeon! No wonder non-anglers think we are all certifiable. Now your hybrid is definitely an interesting one. On the Ribble we get the occasional chub/roach cross but I don't think yours is one of those. I too would suggest chub/bream (or the other way round). Keep up the good work.

Fantastic. I haven't had a ruffe for about 5 years. There's a reasonable head of them in the Basingstoke canal, but it isn't easy locating them. I do remember my grandad calling them a Pope. Tasty variety of species, bit like a zoo really. You might want to be careful how many sets of gear you lose. Matrix suspect you of making a quid on the side....LOL That hybrid was an eye opener for sure. What would you give it? looked every bit of 2.75lb from here. Cracking video, as usual. Really like the approach to the swim clip, with the kit already in place. That's giving us more time seeing action, rather than setting up. There are 100's of setting videos about, so it's not needed, when you take into consideration that the vast majority of your viewers are accomplished anglers. Top notch Jamie. Take care my friend.

Hi there, recently i’ve found your channel and i am loving it so far. I have a question, so maybe you could help me choose the right option. I am in a need for new rod. I will use it mainly on the rivers that are deep and fast at certain parts but on the other not so fast and not so deep. So i can’t make up my mind between two rods: Daiwa N’ZON Z 13ft 150g or 12ft 150g, also should i consider 180g instead of 150g and is this Z version really that better from S one? As for reel i was thinking of Daiwa N’ZON distance 25qd. Also if you think that some other Daiwa options are better, feel free to suggest me. Thanks in advance.
