@Jennifer U There is absolutely no reason to hate Weird Al Yankovic. He and Michael Jackson are in my opinion the greatest entertainers ever. Al did not do these parodies to "insult" or "offend" Michael or his fans in any way, and as he said, Michael never rejected the parodies because he was already a fan of Weird Al. Just wanted to set that straight, and I thank you for your apology.

In the mainstream pop game but weird Al already had heavy rotation on Dr Dememnto and spent alot of time on the top 5 list there with his earlier works. So he was known in the LA market and a few other big markets long before. By the time he did Eat it he was on his 3rd produced album with Rick Derringer having also produced the other two and was widely known by rockers as the shows where he got play appeared across classic rock stations nationwide in a popular block of syndicated shows that included things like the 7th day, King Biscuit, and Off the Record. If MJ did anything it was to make Al a pop top 40 station staple and give him enough of a mainstream identification to launch his movie UHF which mostly got the green light on the reception of his MJ parodies and from MJ helping out by showing parts of it to friends. Weird Al made himself famous but MJ helped make him universal and eternal.

MJ did turn down Al once, when he asked to parody "Black or White", saying the song's message was too important. Al's version was to be called "Snack All Night", but I don't know if he ever finished it.

That "bigger than life" thing Al said, that's how I felt when I went and saw Al live. I couldn't believe I was there actually seeing him in person because until that moment he seemed beyond reality. Like he was a fictional character and that I'd never see him in front of my eyes without a screen in the way. That was during the Straight Outta Lynwood tour. Sadly I missed the Alpocalypse tour. I was pretty depressed that I didn't catch one show. I'm hoping I can catch the next one for Mandatory Fun.

This interviewer really should have taken a lesson from Larry King when he said he tries to never ask a question that is longer than 2 sentences before letting the person answer. Hes got the REAL GUY in front of him to ask him anything he wants and hes decided to waste that time quoting the guy to himself and making him watch his own videos. Dude, everybody gets it, he knows how it felt to him HE WAS THERE! Who is his intended audience of people?. I apologize if that seems overly snarky or unfair.

Weird : The Al Yankovic Story is a fun film and respectful to Jackson too. It's over-the-top claim that Eat It is the original and Jackson 'stole' it for Beat It is pretty funny and works because it's blatantly obvious to anyone that Beat It came first. :) Al wanted to do Black or White too as 'Snack All Night' but Jackson declined that one because of the social message that Black or White was written for. And Al respected that decision. And decided it was for the best anyway as he was worrying he was getting known as the 'Michael Jackson parody guy' and so did a parody of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit instead and that was a huge hit. Al has performed 'Snack All Night' at some of his live gigs but never released it officially.

I did not understand if Al said when meeting Michael that it was out-wordly experience and it felt to him as if Mike was ,,from museum, not a real person”, because of the fact he was meeting ,the most famous person in the world at that time’ or because of how Michael was as a human being after meeting him (i.e. he was so mesmerised about him because of his aura, personality, etc.) Does anyone know the real meaning behind it? Cause he didn’t say much or more details about this specific part..
