I noticed that when Al speaks with you, he looks at you. Lots of times you have a celebrity being interviewed, and they spend most of their time looking and clowning at the audience or the camera. Al was speaking with Conan, and focused on him. Respect, Al.

Funny story about Michael Jackson... My mom is a HUGE Stephen King fan. About two years ago, she got the chance to not only meet him, but have a conversation with him and he told her a great story about Michael. Apparently, Michael wanted to consult Stephen on his music video, "Thriller," and tried calling him. Stephen had gone out, so his wife, Tabitha, answered the phone. Stephen doesn't believe in cell phones - hence his book, now a movie, "Cell" - so he always leaves a number he can be reached at with Tabitha. So, of course, she gave Michael the number Stephen could be reached at and they got off the phone. About ten minutes later, Tabitha gets another call from Michael, only this time he's crying. When she asked him what was wrong, he explained, while still sobbing, that he hadn't had a pen or paper when she gave him the number, so he'd written it in his carpet, but the carpet had sprung back up and he couldn't read it XD

The thing is, he doesn't need the artist's permission to do any of his songs. They're all protected under parody law and always have been. He only "gets their permission" on principle alone to make sure nobody feels uncomfortable, none of that is legally required of him. Him giving Michael Jackson co-writer credit is also purely his choice as a friendly gesture and not at all necessary. Al is just a really, really sweet guy.
@donmiller2908
@donmiller2908 2 жыл бұрын
I heard somewhere that the titles of songs, books, movies etc, had no copyrights and could be used freely, never knew about a parody law. Interesting. So he could have parodied "Live and Let Die" with absolutely no legal repercussions but didn't because it would have upset Paul McCartney? That is a sweet guy.

I am also a great fan of his seguing from one song into another--a past-time I like as well: taking note at what point in one song does it begin to sound like another, and chaining these together. Al is a really good guy and down to Earth. He is always humble and classy and could actually do the parodies without consent from the original artists but refuses to do so. He is sitting on more money that the majority of people that are guests on this show but he just puts on a decent outfit and I can't help but notice his shoes are obviously ones he is using in day to day life if you look at the bottom of them. He is just a genuine guy and if you ever get the chance to meet him, he acts exactly the same in real life. Real easy to talk to guy and doesn't act uppity with people.

Al was front of me in a line to bungee jump in Daytona few yrs ago. It was the same crane where the guy was killed just one week after we jumped. It was over 300 feet and after the guy was killed they made them bring it way down. I think it was only 172 feet but not certain. I just know it was almost half the distance. When all jumped he reached in his pocket and pulled out a bunch of small pieces of paper that was advertising his show that night...haha. He had 2 GORGEOUS girls with him at the time also. It was one of the times MTV was there doing their Spring Break gig. Back when MTV was great. The fact that he said he would be cool with literally anything else shows he is a nice guy.

Respect? He confirms the stereotype of vegetarians and especially vegans as humorless, moralizing busybodies. Humility/the ability to laugh at oneself is a top 3 important human traits and this is just self-important. *Al himself* is a vegetarian but you only see one of these guys taking themselves seriously to the point where you can't joke about fking food. People are too good for a joke suck. Al is a more decent person for respecting his holier-than-thou ethos.
