Makes me think about that bootleg Hatchimal I still have somewhere. He came into my life because I basically begged my Mama for a Hatchimal. He was (If I can remember correctly) a green Draggle with a blue beak and he arrived with his egg already with cracks in it. While still in the egg, in the box. (Yeah idk what happened during shipping.) When it was time for him to hatch I took the easy route and just ripped open the egg thanks to those cracks it had. Oddly enough, he didn’t sing Hatchy Birthday upon being released. He was just in a permanent stasis of the mode he was in when in the egg, he didn’t really learn to talk or walk either, so I got bored of him quickly and placed him up on the shelf and left him there. Fast forward to years later, we were moving hours and I find him again on the shelf and I randomly decide to look at the tag and I find the reason to his weird behaviour. He was not a Hatchimal. He was a Hatchanimal. My Mama unknowingly got a bootleg off of Amazon when looking for a Hatchimal. Now seeing this comment makes me think I should bring him out again and play with him. He may be bootleggy and weird, but he’s my quirky bootleggy child and I should love him more.

Humorously enough, I'm quite familiar with Koby. The store I worked at sold them, and I made some extra money clearing out the old inventory. Koby spoke English right off the bat, and had a basic voice interpreter. It would play counting games, and you had to say the phrases. It WORKED, but you had to wait until it went silent to say what your part was. The buttons on the belly, head, and back were pretty Furby-like, but I think that the makers were trying to make a similar toy, and not a direct knock-off.

3:40 oh my god, this video was meant to be in my grubby hands. Years ago I saw these youtubers find one of these at a thrift store, younger me was DEDICATED to finding out what these toys were and at some point I did figure out what they were. But soon after I forgot about them. Only for them to reappear in my mind recently. It's been DAYS since I started my search on finding this weird fluffy toy from the 90s with a baby inside it's pouch that appeared in the background of the PONPONPON music video. One of the keywords I used when trying to find these bastards was "bootleg furby toys". I clicked on this video because well I love furbys and furby bootlegs and wasn't expecting for these gremlins to appear on screen. I think you could make a genuinely enjoyable series out of reviewing and talking about bootleg toys and products. You are only the second person I've heard talk extensively about Furbies as an adult outside of hacking or circuit bending, and are the only who's taken a liking to the fakes. Furby fakes are unfortunately a little rough to find, your more likely to come across a mistitled listing for one then one with the Furby fake having its name. I've personally used Facebook marketplace to get my Furby fakes as a lot of people sell them as 'furbys' there. Good luck!!

@@poliebear1335 one reconmendation I have is to either check chinese selling sites (i forgot the names of specific ones so maybe poke around the internet), or check places like the Facebook Marketplace or Ebay. If there's multiple pages, make sure to start at the very last one and work your way up. I used this method to get a bunch of bootleg sonic and pokemon plushes, so hopefully this method would work for you. As a last resort, I'd reconment just going to google and check under the "shop" tag and work your way up from the last page.
