As someone who is self taught in Photoshop myself there is so much I just don't really know and I enjoy your tutorials. Shooting Raw is something that everyone knows about in the post processing arena, but sometimes you only have a Jpeg to work with, I haven't seen anyone use a levels adjustment to correct white ballance in Jpeg images. It's a trick I discovered by accident and it works by selecting the mid tones dropper and selecting a neutral part of the image, you can keep moving around the image untill you get the adjustment that looks right. I can not explain what happens in PS that makes the adjustment but it might be worth sharing in a video. It's so fast and works great.
@PiXimperfect2 жыл бұрын
That's a wonderful trick, and thank you so much for watching and supporting the video. You can do the same with Curves, and it functions equally the same. I have a video explaining how it works here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gXrVfo2kqK1lrM0

Awesome trick... wow! I also try Image P3 and Adobe RGB 1998 when using Assign Profile in PS. Yes the colours come alive and adds more detail and pop somehow! I then use Convert to profile to change it back to sRGB and then finally use Save a copy to do the save as a jpeg. When I compare an image with/without this process - it is night and day different. My Canon R6 jpegs are now just incredible. After 6 months of trying all different techniques, I've finally found the magic sauce solution. Well done PiXimperfect and a huge thank you.

I think you solved a mystery I had been dealing with for many years. When I saved my photos in .jpg or .tif, they always looked different from photos (in .psd) I was viewing on Photoshop. There is an option to select sRGB when we go to Save As. The option was converting the color profile, so the results looked different.
@Grasseatereu2 жыл бұрын
It is supposed to do that.. When you Are not watching the photo on photoshop lightroom or something like that it Will not display the bigger color space.. So when we use photos on social media or internet phones and so on we want it to be in srgb
@alexfreedomroad2 жыл бұрын
I've been dealing with the same problem for a long time, without a solution, the images in PS looks vivid while the images I save looks dull. After watching this video I figured out that I can select the color profile when saving and have the colors that appear in PS embedded in the picture.

@@Ni5ei For printing purposes I suppose. It would be nice if there's a technique to print an image as close to its sRGB color profile.
@kohakuplay2 жыл бұрын
For print (advertising) i always start in CMYK. Or combine CMYK and RGB inside the smart object. If you want to print, better you convert to CMYK from the beginning. Sure... CMYK color profile is worse than RGB. But you will able to push the adjustment to the limit. If you work with RGB then convert to CMYK. You will need another adjustment to makes the image better. Thats mean you work twice.

I actually abandoned Adobe RGB and prophoto RGB recently in favour of just keeping life simple and editing in SRGB. I take a lot of night photos and because Adobe is a larger space it actually introduces a faded black to a lot of the shadows which I would always try to get rid of cos it looked bad. SRGB being a smaller space slightly crunches the shadows and looks more natural to me 🤷♂️ besides, it’s either going on the web or getting printed at which point it all changes hugely anyway. I find it much simpler to stick with one profile for everything.
@MichaelBrunettiSF2 жыл бұрын
And it's accurate! Assigning a different colour space to an image is basically wrong. There is only one reason to do it, when you don't know about the source Profile at all. For example, when taking a picture, the date and time, the foto is taken, the sensor of the camera and also the ambient temperature can change the colour of the image and should be combined in this particular source Profile.
@Phil_Taz2 жыл бұрын
You should never be using ProPhoto, you are losing colour. You should edit in the native image of the original file or convert (NOT assign) to a larger gamut such as AdobeRGB to work on it. BUT you MUST embed the profile when you are done. I see this done wrong all the time in my printing business, if you work in AdobeRGB and don't embed then 99% of printers and print shops will ASSIGN srgb (as it is the the most common working space for files with no embedded profile) and your colour will print wrong. If you don't embed profiles properly and appropriately you can NEVER blame the printer or print shop for colour shift.
@Phil_Taz2 жыл бұрын
Photographers think sometimes that 'ProPhoto' means 'Professional photographer'... Wrong! And that 16 bit gives some magic quality.... Wrong! There are ways to use these effects but you need to have deep knowledge of colour management. You're just killing your images and wasting data.

@JohnMacLeanPhotography2 жыл бұрын
@@radwinaskari7829 those JPG files basically have “baked-in” color adjustments that your Picture Style applied. They’re usually not accurate in terms of color or tonality. I would suggest just shooting raw and processing your files to their best ability in LrC to your liking, and forget about what the Canon adjustments are doing to your JPGs. In other words, create your own color rather than accepting what the output of the JPG offers. Having a hardware calibrated display definitely helps too. Best of luck!

This has been the bane of my existence. I used to shoot in AdobeRBG, bought wide gamut monitors, and color correction software. While it is important to color correct, what sucked is that the web (web browsers, social media, phones, etc) only exhibit sRGB. Most print labs print only sRGB. I found that while my images looked rich and colorful on my screen, my consumers (social media and print) would get these not so accurate colors because the sRGB algorithms had to figure out how to dumb down (compress) the colors that I sent, resulting in an image that did not match my vision/edit. So, unless I am doing my own printing, I will now shoot in RAW, and work and export in sRGB.

I will try this tho I kind of doubt it will work for posts on social medias for example because these color profiles can be very tricky. You can see the colors in your photoshop one way but once u post it, the colors are different. Here is what I do. Edit > convert to profile > the srgb profile u saw in the video > file > export as > jpg 100% convert to srgb(even tho it's already srgb..). Important, once u do that your whole project will be merged into one layer so once u export the image, make sure to ctrl Z so u can get ur project layer back. PS this doesn't have anything to do with the monitor calibration, yes the calibration is important but u should know that if u work in a particular profile in photoshop, the colors u see will be different after posting unless u use my method(itz not mine but I spent lots of time looking for it on the internet)
