I debated making the final example a Chandra instead of Huntmaster, but it was too confusing for a joke which would only make sense to like 3 vorthoses

There used to be an excellent bug on MTGO when you cloned a Nezumi Graverobber and fulfilled it's transform condition. The card would remain the same unflipped card for stats and such but visually be spinning on the board while the game continued

So apparently the rules about copying transforming card changed with March of the Machine. I think it means both sides get copied now.

I'm curious if "Is a copy" falls in to this sort of category. For instance "Enduring Angel" has this fun little rules clarification: "If a transforming double-faced card has somehow become a copy of Enduring Angel, the replacement effect will apply, the copy of Enduring Angel will transform, and your life total will become 3. However, because the copy effect that makes it Enduring Angel continues to apply to it after it transforms, it will still be a copy of Enduring Angel. This means that the replacement effect will be applied again if your life total would be reduced to 0 or less a second time while that copy effect is still applied." To be fair, I have a lot of questions about that rules clarification to begin with. Like, does transforming double-face card mean a double faced card that has it's transformation trigger currently on the stack? When it transforms do you still need to flip it? When it stops becoming a copy of Enduring Angel, what side should it be on? There's probably more but those are high on the list.
@TheLreez2 жыл бұрын
Good questions! Here's what I think, but I'm not a judge: - Transforming Double-faced Card isn't referring to a current action, but to a "Double-faced Card" that CAN transform. As opposed to a Modal Double-Faced Card. I think MDFCs act like normal cards in that they don't actually flip if they're a copy of a TDFC that would normally flip (Like how Lazav doesn't transform in the video). - You still flip it, because if it stops being a copy of EA, it's still transformed, and so you need to reference the other side. - You reference the side it is on, since you should have flipped it if/when it transformed as per above.

Only for token copies of transforming permanent cards. A token copy of Huntmaster of the Fells created by Cackling Counterpart can transform, but a Phyrexian Metamorph copying a Huntmaster of the Fells still cannot.

Okay so if you copy a creature that can deal noncombat damage with lazav activate that ability then copy Akki Lavarunner and let both resolve does that flip Akki Lavarunner? And if so you then you could immediately copy another flip card for some powerful effects. Also let’s say you do this procedure but before you allow the flip to resolve (assuming it goes on the stack) but then you transform lazav into a creature that can deal damage again and deal that damage and repeat the procedure dos Akki Lavarunner flip into Tok-Tok and then immediately flip back into Akki Lavarunner? Or does a card being flipped permanently leave it in that state?

I really don't want to come off as patronising or sarcastic, but did it really not cross your mind that a card as game-breaking as Erayo may be banned in Commander? I feel super bad for you in any case, especially as such a deck must be pretty expensive to build :/
@jallen37752 жыл бұрын
@@Ceracio back then I didn't know there was a ban list, but It wasn't a big loss I owned most of the deck it cost me about $20 or $30 to learn the lesson and I have made use of all of the other cards. Truthfully I find it funny, and accept it as a learning experience, just like when I bought Limited Resources, black Braids, or Sway of the Stars (at some point I started to collect them, I stopped when I opened a pact that had Lutri, the Spellchaser, or when Golos got Banned (it was Maze's End blink, some people rule zero and allow it))
@Ceracio2 жыл бұрын
@@jallen3775 Oh yeah OK that's legit. I remember when I first got into commander I was really confused when someone told me that Prophet of Kruphox was banned, until someone explained to me that the card wasn't just "you can empty your hand faster", but actually "if this isn't dead by the end of my turn, I win" in certain decks. I'm still sad that I didn't get to run her in my Surrak Dragonclaw deck, though.

But what if you make a flip card a copy of a different transform card? Does it copy the back too?
@nonlamesniper2 жыл бұрын
Glasspool mimic anyone?
@XavierKaziTheZombie2 жыл бұрын
Copying/cloning cards only gives you the front face- if you try to transform it, there is nothing on the back face to transform into, and nothing happens.
@SkySpiral7_Lets_play2 жыл бұрын
cloning gives you the current face which for cards not in play would be the front but for cards in play could be either. Glasspool mimic can't transform into a land because "Modal double-faced cards have two faces that are independent from one another, and they can’t transform.". Mirrorweave on the other hand: I don't know
@franciscagarciaveliz85152 жыл бұрын
What would happen if Mirrorhall Mimic copied Edgar, Charmed Groom and then it died?

The Mirrorhall Mimic does in fact return transformed as Ghastly Mimicry, provided you have a legal creature to enchant it on.

Ih u helm of the host a two sided Garruk (BG) the game kinda ends in a draw
@SkySpiral7_Lets_play2 жыл бұрын
The only double faced Garruk is Garruk Relentless which can't make himself a creature. If you manage to make him a creature (it's possible but difficult) and put the helm on him then the new tokens will instant die from having 0 loyalty. It would be pointless but wouldn't result in a draw
