...... minus the missing textures, this happened to me in Half Life 2. In Ravenholm, because of course it was. I remember that i walked into a previous map from the one i was in, then the loading trigger disappeared, and i had to noclip to get places. When i used the map command, it carried over. It was weird.

have you deleted any files from the game?? if so, then you couldve removed the textures. that makes that little unknown image pop up in place of the actual game texture. (little unknown image being the pink and black checkered squares) re-installing the game should return all files back to its original copy so if you uninstall then reinstall you should be fine! :D

I think that he replaced the Map BSP file for the sake of a video: Note the message, “Node Graph out of Date. Rebuilding…” As a Portal Mod Developer, this happens a lot with new maps. In all Source 2013 Games, when you launch a newly *built* map, It builds an ain file, which is used mainly for NPC movement and interactions with objects. Don’t know why it’s needed in Portal, I think it’s just because of the entity npc_generic_actor being present (in the form of a cube out of bounds in every map) to handle GLaDOS’ Dialogue. Also, in Source Games, materials NEVER change without a modification to the map itself (which never happens by accident, either a pirated copy or half-tech savvy person), so you shouldn’t be able to walk on the floor, or shoot a Portal in an incorrect spot. It’s really easy though to pass a cube through a fizzeler, because all you need to do is delete a trigger, trigger_portal_cleanser. The particle effect is just a particle system, the same thing responsible for the look of fire in the game, and you could make a map entirely of those and pass through cubes through them all day, or have a map with the portal_cleanser trigger covering the whole thing and have everything fizzle leaving the player confused.
