I giapponesi sono l'unico popolo oltre noi italiani che si lavano il sedere ogni volta che vanno di corpo (o quando possono, perché non tutti hanno i water closet col getto bidet). Tutti gli altri popoli si tengono il culo sporco da quando si fanno la doccia al mattino fino a quando fanno la doccia alla sera. Molti neanche quella, e restano con gli inevitabili tarzanielli attaccati ai peli del posteriore una giornata intera, visto che la carta igienica non pulisce mai completamente...

Il bidet nacque in Francia per le prostitute, che paradossalmente erano però, di conseguenza, sempre più pulite dei nobili. Per questo loro non l'hanno mantenuto... Stigma sociale. Perchè è così difficile lasciare 40 cm in più nei bagni inglesi?! 😒

I think that the wet hair thing is for the different climate. In winter, if I don’t dry my hair, I feel under the weather for a week😂

Sì, ci asciughiamo sempre i capelli per non ammalarci e non è per superstizione. Nell'Italia del nord succede davvero... cervicale, raffreddore, tosse... Il clima è più freddo e umido e i virus si insinuano più facilmente. Nella bella stagione invece diventa solo una questione estetica, specialmente per chi ha i capelli indomabili. Sappiamo che se una persona ci vede con la testa bagnata fuori casa e non abitiamo in una località di mare, pensa che siamo appena stati in piscina 😊

I'm Italian living in the UK, most of the houses don't have a bidet because it takes too much space. When we renovated our house we tried everything to fit one in, it was impossible no enough space

I mean... I've never seen someone prepare cake just for breakfast, but yeah, if cake's available, no reason not to eat it for breakfast, it's still considered a pastry the same way croissants are, and also the most common breakfast cake i have a hard time even considering a cake, i'm referring to panettone Yeah it's a cake, but then again it's more like... I dunno, i wouldn't really compare it to cake, it's more akin to white bread like pancarrè, i guess?

Just one comment re translating “Biscotto” that’s a false friend with biscuit. Biscotto is better referred to as shortbread.

Not exactly. I'm italian and biscotto is biscuit or cookie. Shortbread is a type of biscuit.

Nella maggioranza dei casi, quando parliamo di biscotti da colazione in Italia parliamo di frollini, cioè biscotti di pasta frolla. Che si traduce shortbread. I cookies hanno un impasto differente e sono generalmente morbidi.

@@DonBiroton non avevo mai sentito “frollini” in vita mia, comunque dire biscotti sia come “cookies” (in American English) che come “biscuits” (British e Australian) è giusto, perché parla di biscotti in generale

@@flaviopons142 well most holiday cottages and hotels we've stayed in there, there has been one. Maybe it's more popular in some regions than others I'm not sure. But based on my experience it's more of a thing there than in the UK.

@@maisieliberty1319 I am an Italian now living in France, and I can tell you that it is not at all normal to have one in Paris and the surrounding region. In fact, if you mention it, they tell you that they don't even understand why it would be useful (ew). I have been on vacation in other parts of France in the South and the North-East, both vacation houses and hotels, and never have I ever found a bidet. My colleagues explained to me that in the past the bidet was used by artistocratic people but at a point it became common among prostitutes, so that they could wash between clients, and it was then associated to prostitution and then judged "immoral", and the use was just lost. I found that it is common to find bidet in Portugal instead.

@@flaviopons142 interesting. There was definitely ones in some hotels we stayed in. Not every place, but it was certainly in some. We haven't been in Paris as much as the south though.

@@maisieliberty1319 if you were in the South-East, like Provence - Cote Azure (Nice and surroundings), or maybe some location on the Alps Maritime, it may be because there is a lot of tourism from Italy in those areas.
