Weird West First Person Mod Tech Overview

Thank you for making this. I feel ashamed to admit it but after heavy gaming for decades, I just bounce off anything that isn't first person. It is what it is. Really wanted to play WW but knew I would struggle. Now it's mine all mine!

Same here. First or third person. The best games zoom all the way in and out letting you choose how you want your view to look.

I didn't know this mod existed. Weird West was a great playthrough, was kind of thinking about replaying it and seeing this mod cemented the idea. Seems like a great way to revisit the game. Thanks for the hard work, hope the game was a success for everyone that worked on it.

Gave this mod a try over the weekend for 2.5 hours and enjoyed myself. When i played on controller in first person, there was an incredible amount of head swaying. I thought maybe my controller had stick drift but its only an issue in this game. Also the in game sensitivity has no effect when in first person while using a controller. I had to lower my dpi using my mouse buttons

I beat the game a few months ago. My main complaint was the top down shooting was weird. You would grab or target the wrong thing. I wish it launched with a complete fps mod.

this is so fucking amazing! the top down camera gets frustrating after some time since u cant interact with objects precisely and i often find myself changing the position to be able to click on objects. i rly. hope this makes it in vanilla!

Love this mod you made man! I have been playing with it and its made the game way more immserive and like Dishonored and Prey which makes me feel right at home. Not sure if you know for sure, but does installing mods for the game disable steam achivements? I didn't get a certain achievement after I added mods to my game? I've seached online but haven't gotten a straight answer.

This mod is amazing but for some reason the peripheral vision seems to be darkened so its like you have tunnel vision

Yeah, so this is actually the vignette effect from the regular game. I realised too late that it was amped up high from early dev so everyone's visuals were tweaked to look good with this perma-vignette where even the middle of the screen is darkened to some degree, and when I turned it off and replaced it with a more tweakable one, everything looked "wrong" and it was going to be too much hassle to work around that, so we kept the original one. Everything was gonna be pretty washed out and uggo in first person if I disabled it, so safer to leave it on.

The mod looks really good, I really like it but doesn't seem to work on mine. Is there a keybind I need to press, or is it automatic? Are settings need to be specific? Is the email in mod io need to be aligned with steam account (it didn't sound right so I doubt it)? I check the pak folder and it's already there so I'm pretty much stuck.

Downloaded the mod to check it out and now its stuck in FPS mode. I've unsubscribed from the mod, rebooted the game after unsubscribing and uninstalled and reinstalled, but I'm still stuck in FPS mode. Any advice on what I'm doing wrong?

Cool. It looks like a cool game but I can't stand top down view. It looks like games from 20 years ago. So glad mods exist. I don't know why game developers don't just allow you to zoom all the way in and out in all games. It would be better, since people have different preferences.

Not sure if you would be able to help but playing at 1280x720 resolution (Playing on steam deck) has a lot of zoom in / out (almost like the camera is not able to find focus all the time) Any idea if this can be fixed?

Not sure if it's the same thing, but I just noticed yesterday some judder at low framerates. It might improve if you crank the graphics down/whatever else you can do on the Steam Deck to get a better frame rate.

@@JoeWintergreen Thanks I have been testing a bit more and it is unlikely related to frame rate (turning everything to low and still have judder). On the other hand, turning it to 1920x1080p removes the judder even at very low frame rate
