The Hulkamania/Ultimate Warrior (dual side paint job) bike is mine. I was the last finisher and got to parade around the official Challenge Roth championship belt while hamming it up with the crowd.

Number 2005 actually managed to finish the bike in around 7 hours! Quite a feat on a commuter Bike I feel!

Number 2005 has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 10 years ago so he has to ride that kind of bike. He not only finished his 19th long distance race in Roth but did Ironman Hamburg three weeks before. So hats off to him!

@James, just saw you at challenge Roth today, and a bit of a coincidence... I was struggling on my run near the end and was thinking about GTN episodes and your advice to just keep moving forward when you literally came the other way telling someone near you to just keep moving forward!

The Scott bars on the retro Dave russell are the Tri version of the scott 100k bars from the early-mid 90s. Greg welch won Hawaii 1994 using those bars on a Softride....his had barend shifters

Why don't we see more event organisers using the wooden blocks for transition areas instead of the metal frames? As a taller athlete I can definitely see the benefit to not having the metal bar as I often can't get the saddle under with the weight of the other bikes on the bar, especially if I've got bottles behind the saddle

Hey! By the way, is not "Pina Vida" ... it's 'PURA VIDA" !!! It's a very common Costa Rican phrase! For Ticos, the term "Pura Vida" is an expression of happiness, optimism, and living life to the fullest. It is impossible to visit Costa Rica without hearing this phrase continuously.

I passed the rider on the bike course, you couldn't notice the small issues there, at the time I thought I looked I terestingly unique, more like brick than linoleum, but now once ot was said I ki d of agree
