Making its first run with a transmission transplant is my ECX Barrage. After carrying the red truck out of the woods late last summer with the OEM gearbox stripped to oblivion, it went straight to the shelf, never to run again. However, this rig got me started in the crawler hobby, which means I have a soft spot for it. In a Hail Mary move I found a way to shoehorn in the transmission out of my beloved but run-into-the-ground SCX10ii -- wrong scale, wrong brand, wrong mounting holes, three times too big. I can't believe it worked.

ABOUT THE BARRAGE
A weird and wonderful misfit, The Barrage was the star of all my early videos. In 2016 Horizon Hobby threw together a dog's breakfast of parts from offshore brands like RGT/FTX and called it one-twelfth scale though it had 1.9 tires. Since it was only US150 bucks and eventually around 100 The Barrage got more than a few people hooked on the hobby. The electronics were ill-suited to crawling, the tires were atrocious, alternative bodies were impossible to find, the chassis was not bomb-proof by any stretch, and parts could be hard to source. Still, it had its charms. I bought the kit version in 2018: version II by then, the final version.
