Its a little odd to hear that the mom 'had an affair' but the dad stayed with his wife primarily, and are still good friends. Op was likely lied to about the details of this 'affair' and it was more likely either the mother was raped (which would explain why they dont want to know) or some kind of polyamory that the family didn't like, and protection failed (specifically sexual polyamory isnt typically shared with family for I'd assume obvious reasons, and it might have been easier to say it was an affair over polyamory) in whichever way the affair actually was, its still very weird to stay with someone who cheated on you, and stay their friend as well

This happened to my mom’s friend except more sad. Her dad left her mom who insisted she hadn’t had an affair. He got remarried and lived not far from her, raising 4 kids with all they could ask for while my mom’s friend was an “only child” with not much to her name. Years later, after he died, they did the tests and found he really was her biological father.

My father and I found out together we were far more Indigenous than we knew. Turns out I'm not 40% but closer to 67%, with five main contributing tribes. Four of the five are west coast, as we expected, but then there's randomly a significant amount of contribution from a northeast tribe. Then on my mother's side, she has traceable Aztec blood, which was neat af to learn. She's also not white Mexican like she thought, her father wasn't her real blood father, oops.

Not mine but my dog's. I have a mutt that clearly shows her German shepherd and pitty genes, and if you know what to look for, you can identify three more of her breeds. She is clearly the product of several medium to large breeds. So imagine my shock when I learned that she is more Chihuahua than German shepherd. Chihuahua is her third biggest genetic contributor after American Staffordshire terrier and American pitbull terrier. A Chihuahua somehow bred with a dog five times it's size.

My dad is a 6 foot skinny blond haired blue eyed american. My mom is a dark brown haired and eyed Panamanian. On my dads side i took absolutely everything from my mom. We legitimately couldn't look different and when i was with my dad people assumed he was baby sitting or i was adopted. With my mom she thought we were half black because thats what she had been told all her life. DNA proved i was my dads child and someone family tried reaching out to me 18 years too late. I was in fact not too dark enough to be their kin. With my mom we are indigenous native americans not black at all 😂 found 2 sides of the family that hid their heritage. The indigenous and jewish side hid what they were and told everyone they were spaniard / black.

I found out that I’m actually related to my step-siblings. Distant relatives on my Paternal grandfather’s side. We did DNA testing as part of a huge family tree my Dad & step-mum were doing & it turns out that there’s a common ancestor about 5 generations back. It was interesting to find out that we do have some of the same DNA floating around in us even though we are step-family.

My grandmother was adopted and we only found her family a couple years ago. Turns out her mom was in her 40's when she gave birth to her, in a marriage where both spouses cheated on each other repeatedly. Only her half siblings knew she existed and her half brothers refused to speak to her. Her half sister endeavored to introduce her to the rest of the family and try and look into the past to get some of the real history out in the open

i have weird genetics. yes just like all my siblings i came out with red hair but usually it changes after a few in years except for one of my older brothers who isnt my moms (he was before the marriage) unlike my brothers and sister my hair didnt changer to brown it went bright blonde and my eyes werent brown either i came out with baby blue eyes. it got clearer as i got older i migth not be my dads as i look almost nothing like anyone in my family im skinny though i dont work out im much shorter and my face is less round. everyone else is a bit chubbier since they dont have good metabolism or something like that (that's what they say) and all are 6ft and above or nearly 6ft (im 5'2 :/). i am the youngest and i assume that i was either switched at birth, an affair baby or im just plain weird. no one else in my family even way back has any of my features. but since my father isnt a good person im kinda hoping he isnt my father at all.

my grandfather made a baby (presumably in an abusive way) with his cousin and then that baby was put up for adoption. i met my (half) uncle later cos he was flagging in 23andme as a cousin even though i only have one aunt on each side, and he was older than both of them (turns out the % of match could be cousin or half-uncle). he already knew through other testing that his birth was likely from incest, but it blew up my aunt's perception of her family completely. my mom was fine though, she already had a rough relationship with her dad since she was older and saw a lot more of his alcoholism, and at most it gave her closure for why that side of the family would exclude them while she was growing up. my grandfather died before i was born so it was kind of just whatever to me. my uncles cool tho, we talked through email a little bit and he seems like he has a good life and loves his family.

Being Jewish is a religion,, NOT a verifiable DNA result. Like my being Catholic or Baptist or Methodist. You also share more than 90% DNA with Bonobos and Gorillas. THAT doesn't make you a monkey's Uncle.

@@unnamed47 Nah in some places being directly half white is worse than black or jewish especially if you are "ruining good white genes" my paternal side is basically only Anglo Saxon and Germanic. besides the .4% jewish my paternal side is basically like little mustache man's "prefers ethnicity" and that would make my dad a "traitor" and me and my siblings as again "ruining good white genes"

I’m suspsoed to be 1/4 Swedish from my grandfather since he was full blood Swedish however 1 dna test later turns out I’m not related to him and my real grandfather is some Italian dude from Spain
