Weird History presents Timeline 1973. Hop back on the nostalgia train, because Weird History's Timeline is taking you back to 1973. It would be a year of Elvis in Hawaii, the sad demise of Bruce Lee, and Marlon Brando's refusal to accept an Oscar. Get your pet rock ready because Timeline: The '70s is going retro.

Not even mentioned in the video. The Super Horse exacted a revenge on Nixon that no human could, remember that after the Preakness you could get that bumper sticker " Secretariat for President ", fans began to call his planes " Air Horse One ", Frankenstein rocketed to the top of the Billboard 100 to become somewhat of a new national anthem, for the Belmont Nixon left DC to hide at Robozo's home in Florida as Secretariat was crowned KIng.

@@GothicThylacine Same. Secretariat did what no horse did for 25 years, and it didn't get a mention. Disappointing. That's the reason I watched this video of 1973. One day, the 90s, my sister and I rented it from the video club and we were pretty scared...but even scarier was when our ultra-Catholic parents found out that we'd entered THAT video in their house and lost their freaking minds. @@gaetagirl The recent decision to revert this issue back to the states, reverts back to a far more Constitutional direction, rather than the unconstitutional Roe vs Wade decision. There are many federal mandates set across the country that are blatantly unconstitutional. Income tax, drug use, health care, education, etc, that all infringe on our Tenth Amendment rights. I'm very glad I no longer need to list abortion as one of them. And no... I DON'T approve of abortion. But I disapprove of government infringing on my rights even more.

This was the comment that bothered me the most, “Paul and Wings’ only good song” he said!!! Like WHAT?! There’s: Picasso’s Last Words, (Which Paul wrote after having a conversation with Dustin Hoffman, and Hoffman asks Paul, “Is it true that you can write a song about anything?” And Paul says, “I think so.” So Dustin grabs the newspaper and says, “Pablo Picasso just passed away last night.” If you haven’t heard it, PLEASE go listen to “Picasso’s Last Words”, it’s one of the *most beautiful* Paul + Wings song there is. Furthermore, “Time To Hide”, “Medicine Jar”, “Beware My Love”, on and on and on! Ugh I fucking DIE for Paul McCartney and Wings. 💖💖🥰🥰🥰

The first year I fell in love. Memorial Day beach party. Little did I know he’d break my heart. I ran off to join the circus and started a new career. Best trade ever! 47 years later, I’m retiring.

“Queen Elizabeth Eleven”????? Was that supposed to be a joke or something? I have a very disturbing suspicion that it wasn’t. But like even if this narrator doesn’t understand Roman numerals, how or why would he think there were 10 previous Queen Elizabeths? Actually you know what… never mind. This gave me a good chuckle! It actually made my day. So looking forward to Elizabeth twelve!!!!!

🎭🎯🎼GREAT JOB Timeline team integrating the definitive ’76 King Kong remake during your 1973 World Trade Center mention. But you omitted possibly one of the most historically significant concerts produced by Broadway vet Kurt Peterson. The now iconic ‘Sondheim: A Musical Celebration’ concert debuted on March 11th, 1973 and featured a staggering array of Broadway’s biggest names. It was the first time ever the Broadway community had come together to honor Sondheim and give him his much deserved praise, and the overwhelming popularity of the concert and its Warner Bros. released LP album nabbed Sondheim the cover of NEWSWEEK magazine. 50 years later to the day Peterson and filmmaker Michael Lee Stever would produce ‘On The Steps Of The Shubert’ which chronicled the significance of the concert and shared never before released materials.

I remember being so glad that the Vietnam War was coming to an end. It was so traumatic to have it going on for a major part of my life, at that point, and being on the news every night, I know it left scars. Some popular songs from that era can make me burst out in tears, occasionally, just because of the association.

I was 14 in 1973, and after the war was over, what I remember most was the lack of war reporting. After I got my first radio, the beginning of every news report was something about Vietnam. When the war ended, those reports ceased--thankfully.

Such a shame that LBJ was in contact with North Vietnamese officials in 1968, and he had planned to have Humphrey, his Vice-president, win the Presidency - except that Kissinger - at that time a Harvard professor - had found out, and went to Nixon, who was able to convince the South Vietnamese Generals to walk out on the Peace Talks - by promising to "compensate" them. So there was NO Peace in 1968, and Kissinger became Nixon's Secretary of State, and LBJ soon died. This information formed the basis of Christopher Hitchens' book "The Trial of Henry Kissinger." Nearly half of US casualties in Vietnam occurred after 1968.

My parents were mulling over the idea of sending me to Canada. And I was young and saying I wanted to join the Marines but my Mom whipped around and said no, you are not going to do that, and she meant it. I still joined the Navy when I was 24. It didn''t work out but I got an Honorable Discharge for what it's worth.

It cannot be overstated the impact "The Exorcist" had on American popular culture at the time. People absolutely lost their shit! "You killed your mother! You left her alone to DIE!” Karras: “SHUT UP!!” (my favorite quote)

I strongly suggest the amazing book 1973-Rock at the Crossroads by Andrew Grant Jackson. It touched upon all the music from 72-73 and tied it together with everything happening socially and politically. Great read.
