Heard of it. Never considered trying it, not least of all because it was not available in the UK. However, I have heard that it became available in some shops as of July of this year. I haven't forgotten the Kraft Cheese slices we tried in the 1970s, along with Dairylea triangles. If this stuff is half as bad as that, I do not see it being a success. And that is what I like about this channel, I get to learn why North Americans consume unappealing foodstuffs that are banned most everywhere else. (PS, "Whiz" is slang for urination). Fair play to you North America, enjoy the things you love. Sod the rest.
@BackToTheGame.982 ай бұрын
The video mentions cheez whiz got it's start in the UK as a ready to eat topping for Welsh rarebit.
@tomsenior74052 ай бұрын
@@BackToTheGame.98 I know. I'm calling BS on that claim. I can only imagine Whiz being imported because of rationing. Rationing forced people to eat all kinds of crap. Dairylea and Kraft are still around today (Yuk). Another example, Our Government spent a fortune on Snoek. That stuff ended up as pet food, or fertilizer. The name Welsh Rarebit was intended as a racial slur in the first place. It is rarely used now. It is basically cheese on toast with extras. I prefer Mature Cheddar, a little butter and nowt else. Grilled, not fried in a pan. This isn't about slurs, it is about trying to grasp why North American dishes are popular over there. Cheers.

As an American, I don't like processed foods either. But it's really all we have access to in certain areas. Urbanized blocks in America seem to specialize in "food deserts"; that means local citizens are unable to access healthy, whole foods within a reasonable time frame (and no, an hour long drive isn't worth it, to the weirdos who say "just go outside the area!"). Urbanization is killing our people, because with urbanization comes fast food and processed foods. These urbanization projects especially target areas with a high black/Hispanic population, so it's especially unethical! Trust me, I'd like to stop eating McDonald's, but when it's a choice between McDonald's or a slightly expired chicken breast with freezer burn from my local grocery store, I think the decision speaks for itself.... It's like the saying goes: "Control the food, control the population." There is no escape from processed foods unless you're lucky enough to escape your area. I hope to move somewhere and start up my own little garden for myself. I want to move somewhere with regular farmer's markets and no pesticides. But until then, sometimes you just have to grin and bear it. Trust me, not all of us are happy about the lives we are forced to live.
@tomsenior74052 ай бұрын
@@nomoretwitterhandles I hear you. It is not ideal, is it? This is why I watch this channel. Although there is a lot of inaccuracies in the narration, there are details that I can verify. Your help is invaluable to me. Thank you. Thank you. Certain foodstuffs have disappeared from our grocery shelves. In part due to Brexit and the global knock-on effects of the Pandemic, but now because of war. Ukraine gave us New Potatoes; no longer a reliable staple. India likewise. Tomatoes and other fresh fruit has dropped in quality and risen in price. I honestly feel for you guys. Shelf stable food seems essential to your food industry. Your distribution costs are governed by Oil. There are many variations on the term; "Society is but 3 meals away from revolution", which seems reasonable given today's uncertainties. In the UK, we have the luxury of high quality produce, processed foods are shunned. This is unsustainable. We import most of our food. I can see us following your lead. Eventually our vast selection of cheeses will have to go back to the processed types we were offered in the 1940s-1960s. God help us all if it comes to that! Thanks again and all the best to you and yours.
