Thank you for sharing your review of our timepiece! This model does not have a hacking seconds, but our automatic models do hack. I hope you enjoy this timepiece for many years to come.

Glad to see another video about the WEISS watch company. Personally, I don't think the watch is expensive. Think how many hours go into designing, assembling, producing watch cases etc. All this happens with just one man and his family... You cannot compare WEISS with other small watch manufacturers. Many others have the entire watch made in a factory - in some unspecified place in the world. At WEISS, you know the whole story. He talks openly about the production - what he makes himself, what comes from Switzerland. The customer service is sublime - what other watch brand responds in a few days?? Can only say that I am really happy with my Field watch 42 mm L.A latte dial :-)

This watch is on a totally different level (higher) than the Hamilton Khaki. The build quality is noticeably more refined, and when seeing it in person that's not surprising considering the watchmaker who built it used to work for AP and Vacheron. The price is steep because of that, but occasionally great pre-owned deals can be found. I found a 38mm Weiss manual-wind for around $800.

I have the cream dial version and also paid the previous lower (but still expensive) price. But worth it for an American hand-made watch! 👍🇺🇲

Got mine last week, I love that I can follow Cameron on social media and see that my money is supporting a company where the entire family is involved. While the price of ownership initially seems high, I feel you are getting a truly hand finished custom watch and not just some mass produced, expensive because of the name in the dial status symbol.

I'm so happy to hear that I'm not the only person who looks at that aspect of the watch as well. Welcome to the weiss watch owners club. I don't think there is a club, but perhaps we should start one?

Well if you want a service watch, there are so many that you can use and throw away at prices that defeat logic to the extent that you can have around six to eight new watches that perform just as well and just throw away if anything goes wrong.

Love this watch and I've been wanting a white-dial 38mm model for a long time.... but they're now a whopping $2000. Not that $2k worth of love and labor hasn't gone into making them, but they're just not competitive in any way at that price. You can get into vintage Tudor with that money, not to mention most mid-tier Swiss stuff. Would have to be really, really into the idea of buying American or fixated on the brand itself.

I know everyone says it with whatever watch they’re into but holy fuck I’ve been blown away after seeing the watch in person and wearing it for awhile. The finish is absolutely exquisite. I don’t think I can find a watch I’d enjoy more in the $2k price range.

I hack to the atomic clock too. It’s ok to let people know you are OCD lol. It’s a nice watch for sure. Weiss is a definitely a hard sell for me. Only because the style. I’m more of a dressy to sports watch style guy. Field watches don’t really do it for me. Specifically arabics. I like batons and indices.
@Watchcastage

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sets the watch to the atmoic clock. There are folks who don't care about setting their watch regularly. As far as field watches, I love them, but I also learned that I love sporty watches, and that's why I love that Hamilton Khaki Auto 38mm I reviewed a week or two ago. Sporty but also Field watchy.

If you pull out the crown on a watch the setting train will be engaged. There is friction in the setting train from the canon pinion that will cause the Watch to stop running once the slack in the gears of the setting train has been used up. It is a little hard to visualize, but you will see that watches that have the crown pulled out will either stop after about 1 minute or will become less accurate after about 1 minute. I hope that helps clarify what you were noticing.

Did you consider the 42mm? My wrist is just a hair smaller than yours so I went with the 38mm because I also felt the flat profile would wear larger but I think you might have been able to pull it off. Unless you are like me and wanted that more vintage size. I am not a fan of "dinner plates" on the wrist.

I originally ordered the 42mm...but the next morning I was too scared that it was going to be massive on my wrist, and switched the 38mm.

The price of this watch is on the threshold of being a scam. You can get a Sinn 556 with metal bracelet for LESS and practically the same dimensions. There's not a single element of this watch that makes it worth even half the price. I don't see how they'll survive, and if they do, will probably be addicted to scamming their clients until bankruptcy.

You can also buy a BMW for less money than a Ford Mustang GT, but to do so would miss the point of what some seek. Part of the attraction is Weiss hand builds them himself in the US. You can send them a message and his wife will literally respond in minutes. You buy one and you are buying into the idea the company is based on.

I have had both the Sinn 556 and I own a Weiss. I have to tell you that the Weiss Piece is extremely well finished and the 6497 in it is very stable. I understand what you are saying but once you experience the Weiss watches it could change your mind. The Sinn and the Weiss are in different leagues just my opinion though.
