Can you tell me the torque specs on the clutch for the DK16/18?
@iversonjcameron3 ай бұрын
@@basdoo4847 If I remember correctly it wasn only 35 but that is simply not enough. It would start slipping with a three inch bit..I would get it actually as tight as I can with a 3/4 inch wrench. You have to put the gear into a vise wrapped with a real heavy rag. Or you'll mess up the gears when you go to tighten it up and tighten the little nut.

Hello. The clutch is a safety mechanism. It is there so that you Don't strip out the gears in case the diamond core gets stuck. Most importantly, It is also there so that the drill doesn't break your arm. This size should be torqued to 15nm. The ones that are larger, 20nm of torque on the screw.

That part you dropped is the copper bushing when that wares out ,the teeth stops engaging with the main gears, the torque on the clutch is equally important, I’ve used theses drills a lot .

I'm working on my core drill. It's a weka dk12. Thank you for the video it really helped out. Although I got the clutch shaft out and the 2 of the gears off of the main shaft, I can't get the little retainer ring off that's deep inside. I can open it up the ring but can't get it out of the groove and off the shaft. Any chance you can walk me through that? I'm trying to completely disassemble the gear box so I can replace the seals and possibly the bearing. Also some genius took the gear oil out and replaced it with grease. I'm assuming because the lip seal was leaking and they figured the grease wouldn't leak out. I need to completely clean up all of that old grease so I can put it back together with some fresh oil. Any help would be appreciated!

@@TheDingdong78 Hi Simon, I opened the gear compartment and inspect the clutch and it looks great to me, nothing damaged, and I have no way of opening or tighten the bolt on the clutch so I gave up on that. I noticed my gear 1 is still working but it hard to engage I have to manually spin the drill bit back and forward and turn the gear knob into gear 1 a bit to have it completely engaged into gear 1 for it to drill properly. I also noticed that I need to do the same for gear 3. Gear 2 is just fine as it is in the middle. Is this normal? Do you still think that my clutch has an issue or the actual gears has issue? Thanks please help.

Too much gear oil. Should be 150ml, plus you didn’t test the tell tale.
