Welcome Address by Minister Chan Chun Sing | International Summit on Teaching Profession 2024

Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Education, delivered a welcome address at the International Summit on the Teaching Profession (ISTP) 2024, which took place from 22 to 24 Apr. He spoke about fundamental shifts that will shape education in the coming years, and how Singapore sees the need for us to go beyond conventional benchmarks of success for education.
Mr Chan also shared that the quality of the teaching force is the most important determinant of our education system, and we must continue to treasure and respect our teachers as a society in order to attract, retain, and grow the teaching profession. “We must continue to value our teachers, and look after them well, so that in turn, they will look after our students well,” he said.
