Dude, you inspire me to do better work day after day, I’m not even close to being as skilled as you are, I’m still in art school, but I swear that every time I watch one of your videos my next piece benefits from it. Just wanted you to know that what you’re doing on KZbin makes a real difference, thank you, and keep this shit up my man!!!

Yea! More like this! I really like the format of first 2 videos for thinking and sketching, and then a time-lapse of the whole piece!

Fantastic work! It was the right choice for the hood to go even though I really like hoods. It was at odds with that hairstyle. I love that weapon design.

Hi Dave, i love your channel, the Draw with Dave series is great. I love seeing how you do the sketch and then go in and paint and tidy up around it. Its really helped me in my own work. I do a lot of stuff on procreate and would love to try and get a brush that does what your DG brush can do. Can you give any advise on creating/tweaking brushes in one of your tutorial videos? I feel like i have a lot of good brushes at my disposal but they aren’t quite right for what I’m trying to achieve. I think this is partly down to a lack of understanding on how these brushes are created and how different settings effect what the brush looks like/preforms. Many thanks.

Hi Dave! I really love your style! Especially the way you use colors and something about it feels 3d and not too much reallistic. Had a few questions and wasn't sure where to ask them: 1. Do you use clip studio pro as well? I use CSP and was wondering how could I get your brushes for it 2. Do you have any more in depth tutorials? 3. Any other artists who you think inspired your work and your style? :D P.S: I saw you have a few drawings of Magic The Gathering in Artstation, are you a fan? :)

i'm working on mine (similar but different) in Clip Studio Paint, got to the stage of the 5th minute above, it went above my expectations, but got a bit stuck with how to aproach the details (delete sketch lines...? new overlay layers? paint back to the layers below? blend? what kind of brush is that, looks something between oil and watercolor). thank you.
@abc_xyz_is_me5 жыл бұрын
to anyone using Clip Studio Paint (ver. 1.8.6): use the brush named Emphasizing Texture (set high brush density and high texture density) under Watercolor brushes for finalizing the painting and blending (Dave shows a similar brush in his blending video). makes a great difference. (for basic coloring i used the Dense Watercolor brush; not good for finalizing). then merged all the layers except the sketch layer and started blending (repainting body parts) into the merged layer while constantly picking color (press left Alt key); deleting the sketch lines; then repainting thin black outlines around every body part.

What size are you canvases usually? I've been using Photoshop for a while but the canvas size usually feels tight for me since I don't really know what actually feels nice. Thanks!
@JoshuaBates015 жыл бұрын
I'm not as good as Dave but it probably wouldn't hurt to make a canvas as big as possible without your computer lagging out. so maybe 2000 px wide or 4000 px wide ?

He used an Overlay layer and went over the hair in a lighter orange. Overlay layers enhance the saturation and colour of whatevers underneath it. I often use Overlay on metals to enhance the shiny-ness. It can be extremely useful and look very good when used correctly, on the other hand if over-used it can definitely ruin a piece. You'll find 'Overlay' on the dropdown menu just above the layers on the same panel (to the left of Opacity). Hope this helped and I didn't just confuse you even more
