interesting to hear you encourage us younger artists to take the time to figure out that fold, or that hand, if it bugs you, dont move on but fix it. this is the first time i have heard such advice!

Maann Dave, you were such an inspiration for me back then, I watched a lot of your art streams, and all of your videos I think back when I graduated from high school. Thank you for all of your videos, tips, and everything. I especially liked your art streams, where you really took your time and created something with the community. :Dd So I would really watch your live streams here as well, or long videos. I would love to see your take on world & story building too, like doing some characters & places with a story and expanding on it as time goes, or something like that.

The blink at the end got me so hyped up 👁👄👁 Insane video, Dave! Love watching you paint, hopefully you will find the time to make more of these videos in the future, seeing u paint is just such a motivating thing. As for the character, it has so much personality, love it so much!

5:58 how is the shadows so soft? whenever i try to block in shadows it looks odd and looks really harsh. is the opacity low, im sure it has to be more than that. im a beginner and don't really understand digital art yet.

It was fun to see your process. Love all of the subtle details you put in your work that bring it all together! I didn't know about the ctrl shift c shortcut, so I immediately tried it out in PS because that would save so much frustration! But it doesn't work for me. Is it supposed to work with clipping masks involved? Also curious about your layers, did I miss something or do you not use clipping masks at all? If not, then why? Would love to hear your perspective on this.

Hello Dave, just wondered if you'd seen any affect of AI art on your industry? and your ability to work? Maybe you use AI for reference? or ideas? or maybe the robots have stole your jobs XD? would love to hear any thoughts you have. Thanks from New Zealand

thank you for these videos man <3 I learned a lot from you, especially when I started to learn these things back in 2020 oh, and also I love the character, but I think the key idea would have been really cool with it : D I know that it wouldn't make sense but I would take the key shapes into an edgy style xd and make them big, at least one of them and paint it with purplish blue? xd Idk what would I do to make it right but yeah xd that would be my idea, thanks for the video :' D

I went to Lightbox for the first time this year, and I was too afraid to walk up to you, I wish I would've lol! It's so nice to see readjustments; I struggle with getting it on the first go, so it's discouraging when other artists' pieces seem so perfect.

ah I wish you had said hi, next time for sure! Yeah i think I enjoy showing a messy process, it really shows what every artist has to go through.

(screaming, crying, throwing up) DAVE IS BACK!!!! I've been a long time viewer on Twitch, so I'm excited to see you're back! It was really cool seeing new designs in WoW and being like "oh Dave for sure had a hand in that one lol" Glad it's been a great experience for you, you deserve it! I personally have been struggling with finding a balance between realism and stylization when pushing proportions and/or shape language, and would love a refresher on how you go about finding that balance. Excited to see new content on the horizon!

Glad you are back Dave! So, I have this kinda basic question, but what canvas resolution do u usually work with? I noticed it was 7000x9500 on this piece. Is it some kinda industry standard, or just something you prefer personally ? For big illustrations I don't usually go over 5k on the bigger side, so I am just kinda curious about that, thank you!
