2024, after a Multiyear Rebuild, New York's only operational Steam Train Returned, Arcade & Attica 18. Having gone down, at the end of 2017, it was a welcomed sight to see 18 back. During the last weekend of September, 18 would begin operating excursions between Arcade & Curriers. For the second & last directors cut, of the 2024 in review season we look back at the best shots I got of 18 over the course of 4 days trackside. Starting off right at the start of fall, to going right into peak fall colors. From cloudy, to sunny, watch 18's trek as they climb the hills of Wyoming County. Through farmlands, and the village of Arcade to Curriers, enjoy New York's Steam Train return!
The Arcade & Attica 18, is a 2-8-0 Consolidation type Steam Locomotive built by the American Locomotive Company in 1920 at the Cooke Works in Patterson New Jersey. It was originally built for Export to Cuba, which never happened. It would then go to Michigan, and would change railroads multiple times. IT would be purchased by the Arcade & Attica Railroad in 1962, and has operated ever since. I first saw this engine in 1997, when I rode behind it with my family. I would not see it again until 2017.
Now that the 2024 in review season is over with, its time to look at 2025! Next week if all goes well, I look forward to returning to the Reading & Northern to chase the #2102 on its first excursion of 2025! April, I look forward to returning to the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad to chase this years Steam in the Valley with 765. Beyond that, I am hoping to make it back down to Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum & Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, as well as #4014 #1225 SMS 9, #4960 and Grand Canyon, and a few others. We will see what happens as the schedules get released. If you liked this video, please like and subscribe! If you want to stay up to date with my adventures follow me on my socials below.
