I was born and raised in Cooper 340. One thing about Cooper they respect there elders. If they saw my grandma walking with her shopping cart they would say Ms.Homely let me push your cart to the your building. When she passed away 5 years ago most of Cooper showed up to her services.

I grew up in Cooper Park Housing Projects. I lived at 330 Frost St. I am white but most of the tenants were Black and PR. I was friends with everyone. Yes, there were project gangs and in those days there were knifings--my Dad was knifed coming home from buying a pizza one Sat. night. He recovered in Greenpoint Hospital....spent a month in there. He never blamed the attackers---said the guys were just high on drugs. I have not visited the projects since I moved away. I am so happy to see how the projects have become a place of positivity....not a dangerous place to be feared. Whatever and whomever it was that turned Cooper Park into such a decent place--keep it up. Sending love to you all.

I grew up in Williamsburg Houses, Cooper was the closest PJs to WB, there was always little beefs between the 2 PJs, at least during the late 80s early 90s. I remember brothers from both PJs tried to put an end to it, and creat unity, that helped some, that was righteous. I worked for NYCHA in Cooper for about 9 months before moving to another development. I got cool with some dudes there n who knew I was from WB but it was always love. While I work there they were filming the movie New Jersey drive there, I saw Heavy D there. Cooper PJs is a unique PJs in BK, Brooklyn… much respect always btw brooklyn graffiti legend Dmane, NOK (Nation of Kings crew) was from Cooper, his tags were everywhere, respect to Joell Ortiz also who always Repped his PJs in his music

That's the reason we didn't like the NJ Drive movie like that, because we knew the film was filmed in Brooklyn. The grapevine said, NJ want that movie filmed in the state, because the end of the movie was a true story, some kids got killed in a car in Hillside, being chased by the sharks. PEACE 7
