I was stationed there, with the 359th ICTC, May 20, 2014 to September 27, 2018. Fort Eustis, itself isn't bad. I had good times, (outstanding leadership), and bad times (horrible leadership). It is a small post, very easy to find your way around that place. The Pizza Hut on base is not a bad thing. The Hampton Roads area is beautiful in the fall months. Having Jamestown, and even better Colonial Williamsburg is a real good thing. Having the beaches of Norfolk and Virginia Beach is a plus. Not a bad post, but after being there for over 4 years, I felt like I had worn out my welcome. It was just time for me go. Being stationed at Fort Eustis was an okay experience. Cons is Newport News, the city the post is located in. Newport News, the area around Fort Eustis is a rough area. Overall, Fort Eustis will be what you make if it.

I wonder how difficult AIT is for 15T working on black hawks?

@@israelcuellar2115 went well passed ait now attached to a unit working on blackhawks everyday. It has its pros and cons like every other job but its rewarding to see them fly and know that they are mission ready once your done working on them.

Was it hard? My student is waiting to start basic. He is already in South Carolina. He just did the yellow phase and should be in red phase now. I basically made him choose 15T. He wanted to be P.M. I told him he would be better off doing a mech. Gig for after he was done. What are the cons? I wanna be a good support system for him. I was in the air wing in the Marines VMFA 225 fa 18 squadron in Miramar. Anyway. Any advice for me to help him stay focused would help me. That's why i wanna know the things you hate about the job.

@@israelcuellar2115 its not so much hating the job I think it can get stressful at times based on the unit you are attached to. Sometimes things don't go as planned as far as readiness for maintainance on the birds or you chain of command. My chain of command is great and I've learned a lot so. I came back from a deployment in Afghanistan and it was non stop work but learned a lot. The job is tiring at times because of the nonstop worklow but other then that if your good at your job its not to bad. Its a good transition into he civilian world as well. This job pay way more as a contractor so if he likes mechanics then he should like this job. Just tell him to stay positive, ignore toxic people and negativety and focus on his career either while in service and if the job is right for him either stay in and enjoy the military or do it as a contractor. Its a good choice either way but for the money if that's important then do his contract and apply for military contractors or private contractors and go national guard to maintain his secret clearance

Thanks for the info. I appreciate you taking the time. Im going to the post office now to drop off the letter i wrote him. Did u ever get a chance to be a crew chief? I guess i wanna try for him to try that. I think he will love to get fly time in. I think i read there are 4 different units. Some are more maintenance base and others more fly time based. Can u clear that up for me?
