Hello Matt. Best wishes for this. It reminded me of going with my dad, many years back, to a graveyard in a village that his family was from. We looking for ancestors, but so many graves said my surname. Out came the equivalent of church pastor, saying they were all his relatives too and it was also his name. Up the road the farm equipment supplier's sign had the same name. This was near Keighley, where Sharpe was shown as from on TV. Searching my mum's family took us to Haworth, famous for the Bronte family. I grew up in Bradford, a city of half a million people nearby, but the area had riots and unrest. Most of the friends and their families, who were the local community, have moved to other places in Yorkshire. I envy that you have this sense of ongoing history, which will probably sound strange to you from this side of the Atlantic? I always joke that both my parents being half Bradfordian was the reason I only had five digits per limb.

Thank you for your comment! For me, at least, one of the fascinating aspects of Franklin's history is that while there is certainly a continuity in its history, there have been a lot of gaps in the record which haven't yet been filled in. I hope to be able to fill in it at least a few of them.

Hi Matt, I believe my family helped settle the area in the 1630s, William Hyde and his children.

Hi Bren, yes, William Hyde and his son Samuel were among the first European colonists in Norwich. "Hyde" was one of the most common family names in Franklin by 1800. Keep an eye out on some of my future videos, the Hyde family plays a role in them :)
