Now caretaking an 1880s remote homestead ranch and stunned each day at the sheer scope of the legacy of courage and strength that carved it out ... and still surrounded by uncounted thousands of acres of untouched granduer just past the fences. Every day is entering God's cathedral. (And STILL no easy walks in the park but with vehicles, machinery and power? Any complaints are a disgrace to the pioneers).

Honest and true writing the best ever not just for entertainment but for education! Thank you Laura Ingalls for candy coating everything! Taylor doesn't hold back anything he gives it to you straight he gives it to you honestly the way it should be without lies without reservation just as real as it can be. Thank you for 1883 it reminds me of how hard the hardships really were for pioneers! ❤️ #BuryMyHeartAtWoundedKnee
@rowanaforrest97922 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say Laura Ingalls candy-coated it. She wrote about what her family had experienced, and they didn't experience this aspect of pioneering. They didn't trek cross country in a wagon train and battle bandits.

I don’t really get the hype over this spin-off. It wasn’t bad by any means, but I frankly got tired of Isabel May’s monotonous voice over and how ‘the land’ went from not caring about the settlers, to being hostile to trying to kill everybody. It could have been a fine 2 hour movie, but got dragged out to 10 episodes. As I said, I’m not saying it’s bad, but I’m just fine with it being a single season thing….

I couldn't even finish the first episode. Yellowstone is a good show on its own, but this thing, I just don't get it. It's odd and it's relentlessly negative. It's Taylor's western fantasy and it ain't for me.

Ghost Platoon by Campbell is another Texas author very similar to Taylor. Sicario style action and thrills. Also historical facts in this book. It is relatively unknown and has not reached critical mass with the mainstream as the author only has written one book.

I couldn't even finish the first episode of this haughty mess. Yellowstone is a good show on its own and will continue to watch it, but this thing, I just don't get it. It's odd and it's relentlessly negative. It's Taylor's old west fantasy and it ain't for me. I'll stick with the versions of the old west that I grew up with, thanks just the same.
