My son lives up in Spokane Valley and is just getting into gardening and home ownership. He is having problems with deer getting into his berries. Do you cover that topic anywhere?

Well, that's frustrating! I do have a video that might help: kzbin.info/www/bejne/r2LGipl6mbyoZqM. There are a lot of tips for keeping deer away from the garden, that apply for all types of settings. I hope this will help.

Missed your Thursday video this week. Are changes in the air?

No. We've been in the middle of a horrible heat wave so I decided to take a week off. I hated to do that but it seemed like a smart idea! It's still hot here but I will be doing a vegetable garden Q&A for my July 25 video. However, on my Facebook and Instagram feeds, I provided a link to my video on blossom-end rot as this is the time of year that gardeners tend to see it on their tomatoes, peppers, eggplants and squash. Here's a link to it for you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIOYh2V_d6pnaLc. And thanks for checking up on me!

Spider mites are crazy bad this year especially on the tomatoes. Trying a milk drench every night.

Spider mites love hot weather and that's when their population absolutely explodes. It's important to keep your plants well-watered, esp. in this heat. You can try using a strong jet of water from your hose to knock the mites off your plants. I haven't heard of using a milk drench and am not too sure that's effective. Other options would be to use an organic product such as horticultural oil, plant extracts such as garlic extract, or spinosad -- be sure to follow the label directions. Good luck!

Living Traditiins Homestead on YT saved their tomato crop with the milk drench.
