I'm currently running a campaign where the Temple of Death is set in the center of the Forbidden City, which is set in the center of the Isle of Dread. (The monastery and Nagpa from Master of the Desert Nomad are also used as random dungeon.) The local buyer and exporter of treasures on the isle is the cook in a tavern named Zeb. :)

Great list....and you're so right about Cook and Moldvay. Definitely some of the best modules ever produced from those sources. Huge fan of KoTBL, Castle Amber, The Lost City, and Temple of the Frog...those belong on any module best-of list.

Premium module choices here! They will not disappoint! My favorite is Castle Amber , because of the deep influence of Clark Ashton Smith's work on it! I own it 2x!

Old school D&D ya gotta love it.. It was LOTR, Conan, Lovecraft, Eldric, Fafhrd & Grey Mouser.. wrapped-up in a middle ages/renaissance setting. Basically it's like D&D now... but good and with balls. Lmao

Night's Dark Terror was the adventure that got me INTO Dungeons and Dragons (I never played it, I just read it) I was awed by its world building. I have to say that after having read thru the three adventures on your list, many other advertisers would pale in comparison. It's sad that the setting and plot from Night's Dark Terror was never revisited. Yes the Iron Ring would be mentioned later on in supplements, and with it's base in Ft. Doom, how neat would it be to have them as mustache twirling bad guys stretching across the world...maybe even as some kind of evil illuminati even leading back to the old Black Eagle himself! Likewise the Chevall were an interesting creature that could use a lease on life in more adventures -- Imagine the reaction the Ethangar would have to such a fantastic creature! From my experience Nights Dark Terror is the best D&D Adventure ever done, period. It could easily be used for an entire campaign or broken up into dozens of 1 shot adventures.

Great list; I also got a lot of mileage out of Crown of Ancient Glory because our party took the offer to set up domains at the end. Then I basically adapted the companion modules to the Northern Reaches.

Adventures in Blackmoor and Temple of the Frog are unreadable. It's absolute boring trash that is impossible to absorb. I seriously doubt you've actually read the thing.
