Welcome to Mystara: The Birds

Time to look up at the rats of the sky, those flying pests that have long plagued humanity, birds. Here is seven of the flappy monsters that exist in the Mystara setting, their ecology, their dangers and how long it takes to fry one. Possessing a large number of defenses like lightning, fire, enchantments, sneezes and the ability to blot out the sun, there is a bird monster waiting to challenge your party.

It wasn't specific to Mystara, but I recall a creature from the old Dragon magazine called the acid pigeon. If I remember correctly it was pretty much just a normal pigeon some wizard had messed with until they had a bird whose crap was pretty acidic. So if you don't constantly kill them or drive them away, they'll nest on your castle/home and etch the walls to ruin with acid bird poop.

Looking forward to the spells. I actually didnt know who the spells were named after because I started in The Forgotten Realms. Later I learned more of Greyhawk and the Circle of Eight that had their names immortalized in spells they invented. Bigby's Fists were everywhere in 3rd edition.

Technically, wouldn't full or half plate mail armor or full chain mail armor provide some protection against electrical damage since the electricity would use the path of least resistance to the ground (the armor itself)?

From a stun-gun, yes. From a bolt of lightning, no. In much the same way that cardboard breastplate covered in aluminum foil would, technically, slow down a bullet... Just not enough to save you.

@@johnbalk6091 in the rules they are monsters even though they don't have any real special attacks. I guess they can classified that because they're five size categories larger than a regular eagle

Barely. All psychic effects are magical in nature. There are no psionists running around Darokin. Psychic creatures like mind flayers are also totally absent
