John Ahern Thanks John! I just spent much of the day going to several different coffee shops, restaurants and hotels in Dingle, Ireland looking for wifi fast enough to upload our next video. The fastest connection I've found so far says that it could complete uploading the 2 gig video in on 18 days... :( The search continues!

Drake, your channel keeps getting better. One of these days you need to give us a walk-through of your foredeck storage area (under the dinghy). It looks like an incredibly efficient use of space.

Jerrid Stottlemyre Thanks Jerrid - It is pretty convenient to have that locker there on the bow. We keep our snubber, our jack lines, and our saltwater wash down hose in it. It's made of wood that was covered with a thin coating of epoxy saturated fiberglass cloth and then painted.

Love he videos of your adventures. It seems it would be a lot more comfortable in the dinghy if only it had side bench seats, that tiller really looks awkward most times resting on your neck. Kudos to Monique for her new sailing skills.

Another great video. So great to hear from you. Tell me, what do you think of a Cabo Rico 38?... Better to look for a Westsail 42 or other larger full keel boat? Where are you now? Safe travels, John
@drakeParagon9 жыл бұрын
ClanOfStonemasons Hi John, we're currently spending May - October sailing up the west coasts of Ireland and Scotland, then on to the Faroe Islands, and from there possibly on to Norway or back down to Scotland or Ireland to spend the winter. I've heard that the Cabo Rico it is a very highly regarded sailboat, but I've never sailed one and am unfamiliar with the design.

+John Chevalier Hi John, Thanks for the comment. I really wish I knew. We found our sailing/rowing dinghy in a used marine consignment store and it has no brand markings or hull ID on it. It's made of fiberglass and I wonder if it was home made. I suspect that it might be pretty old. It's about 9 feet long. I think it's similar to a Fatty Knees dinghy. www.fattyknees.com In Episode #34 "Nautical Shopping" Monique and I are checking out another really nice rowing/sailing dinghy at the marine consignment store in Newport, RI.

You compared this dinghy to a walker bay - did you have a walker bay 8 or 10ft sailing dinghy? I was actually looking at getting the RID 310, which is the same as the 10ft rigid but comes with the inflatable attachments.

Dov Medinets Hi Dov, We bought our fiberglass sailing dinghy in a marine consignment store. I think she might be a home made kit boat and that she might be decades old. There's no brand name on the hull. I think she's most similar to a Fatty Knees sailing dinghy (www.fattyknees.com) I've owned both the Walker Bay 8 and 10 sailing dinghies and really liked rowing them both. But I really didn't like them for their sailing abilities, especially how the tiller isn't on a hinge to make it easier to move around.

Liked your Newport film . Do really like the way your are showing Mo how to operate the boat. You are getting older an need a younger person to take over ha ha. Show my wife how to handle the my boat as soon as she started sailing with me it way most of the time it was just the two of us. Till Ronna came along but she was only 9 months. she enjoyed a little heal she was always in her car seat.

Loving the videos and how you documented most of the voyages, got one small complaint that you probably aware of but got to mention it, the picture looks terrific but you got to work on the sound levels, whenever either of you is holding the camera the sound of the other is barely audible, if I turn up the TV volume then who ever is filming blows the speakers away, I noticed that on some of the cruisers interviews Drake has done have the same problem, need to invest on a mike away from the camera, just my 2¢

Thanks for the feedback! We're always trying to improve the production quality of our upcoming videos and appreciate your input!
@ricksonntag21669 жыл бұрын
Might be able to use software compression to even out the different sound levels. Would be easier than a 2nd mic, especially since you already have 2 years of video in the pipeline that was done with one mic.

This would be better without the music in the background gonging and making it hard to hear what they are saying. I ultimately just muted the audio and watched in silence since the boinging was giving me a headache and I could barely make out what they were saying anyway.
