Walter Lee Hampton II I don’t think so. Tyler Perry has triple the net worth of big name directors like Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction), Michael Bay (Transformers) and Christopher Nolan (Batman), JJ Abrams (Star Wars). Tyler’s movies make 100 million and his budget is like 20million. That’s how he gets so rich. Other directors can’t get away with that profit margin with a high quality film.

As a Writer myself, I can understand how he feels about his writing; it’s a dirty world out there and you want and need to protect your craft AT ALL COSTS! I have experienced some snakes in this industry and it can really damage you. Your creativity is like your child and sometimes you just don’t want to share it. So, from that perspective, I understand. Now, by the same token, when you’re determined to not make connections with other Creatives, it shows in your work and honestly, his work lacks creativity, energy and he has a lot of the same characters throughout his various series. I do wish he would open himself up more to others in our community who could really turn his mediocre productions into some really powerful work. That’s just my opinion on the subject. He produced Precious with Oprah and Lee Daniels which got Monique and Oscar and Gabby Sidibe an Oscar nomination. Being Mary Jane was the show you were talking about and Shonda Rhimes was the lady who created Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder. I completely agree with you in the fact that TP has a tremendous opportunity to be more of a producer. He could create shows, provide the financial and creative backing to hire soms up and coming writers and directors of color, but for whatever reason, he doesn't want to do that. I'm not sure why. I love what he's done, especially being from Atlanta, Ga and being an actress/writer. I hope that at some point he begins to include more creatives behind the camera on the writing and directing side of things. One studio to take note of that does this is Swirl Films. They produce a lot of the TV One, Bounce TV shows, movies, and documentaries and are based in Atlanta. They give a tremendous amount of opportunities to women and people of color both in front of and behind the camera. I almost never hear about them, but they're worth giving a shout out to.

I respect his work ethic and enjoy some of his movie, but the tv shows are a different story. I tried to watch the first episode of Sistas and did not like it at all.

Hey, at end of the day, if people complaining and getting tired of Perry's stories line and movies script, maybe he or she should build they own studio and start writing. That all i can say. I may not like some of this movies, but I have nothing but respect for his work ethic. Let him brag. Lol

Did you not hear at the end of the video where he said "work ethic!" It's not the point of you liking his shows or anything he does! His worth ethic is unmatched just like Kevin Hart niggaz trying teach y'all how to go hard and y'all complain SMH you focusing on the wrong thing it's the work ethic he's trying to push YOU fuck the shows
@ScarlettFevers4 жыл бұрын
Anthony G work ethic vs quality of work... I get what u mean, but this is why he’s coming under so much criticism. Kevin Hart is also feeling the burn rn and tryna regain his footing so that comparison is more accurate than understood.

I agree. If he’s interested in growing, he should bring in writers. I stopped watching If Loving You is Wrong because the pace of the show was very slow. He stretched one night into 6 episode. The dialogue was awful. The actors would repeat the same line 3 times. I hear he shot his last movie in a week and it showed. I’m a fan and am happy for his accomplishments but he needs to evolve.
@Tes70004 жыл бұрын
If Loving You Is Wrong had so much potential. Watching the show became annoying, because over a season or two, at least a dozen characters disappeared, and Tyler Perry abandoned some pretty interesting storylines in favor of that same old tired mess with Randall and Alex.

I hate the fact that incest, drug abuse and domestic abuse are Tyler Perry's main plot devices in most of his TV shows and movies. And, I feel like, with TV shows like The Haves and The Have Nots and The Oval, Tyler Perry's career is chasing Shonda Rhimes career.

I respect Tyler Perry and what he has built! Hopefully he takes this feedback as constructive criticism to continue to push the bar when it comes to creativity and allow others who have gifts to write and story-tell to be apart of what he has going on so, that it can blossom into something greater! 🙏🏾💫

Everything you say your whole perception of Tyler Perry in my opinion is 100% right it's like you're talkin through me I'm glad to see intelligent black people out here who know good acting, writing, casting when they see it and when they don't they let you know you can do better
