Nice vid. Ive been surfing venao since the early 80s, back when (if you didnt bring it you dont have it) the only thing there was that open aired restaurant that is still there. Always guaranteed at least 1 flat tire but normally multiple. But always great waves never crowded. 5 surfers was a crowded day.....

Went & stayed there about two months in 86 from S/W France , the place was a paradise , empty waves with very few locals , some good people & cervezas.. islands nearby are worth a visit on a decent boat ..

It's not, and I have no idea why the colour is like that in Venao. It's a lot lighter in Punta Chame

Surf is usually good year round, with a few less than favorable days between. May is usually pretty good, and July sometimes pushes a couple decent swells too. You may be in luck! There's always a wave though...

Yo! I am planning to rent a car and drive from Panama City through El Palmar (san carlos) --> Venao --> Santa Catalina in June. Is it a good idea? Should I rent a board earlier in some bigger city or will I find surf rentals in those places? Best wishes Edit: After a research I think that Santa Catalina is better considering cheaper hostels/rooms and surf-city vibe. Whats your thoughts?

Hi, sorry I'm now seeing this. Venao and Santa Catalina have rentals yes. The options you may get in San Carlos may not be great (unless you're a long boarder). Venao is incredible and you're almost guaranteed to get surf there. Santa Catalina less so, but still pretty consistent and hosts one of the best rights in Panama!

It's not the best season, but we've had a couple decent lucky swells pull through last week... Honestly I don't think a week passes without good surf there. At least not in my experience...
