I love her energy. I used to live on Undercliff Ave in Morris Heights and then Nereid Ave (further uptown) in the early to mid 2000's. I had to leave due to the crimes and personal family emergencies. But overall, when I was young, I missed the street barbecues and parties, family, friends, the classic steps, and the spirit living in the Bronx. It will always be apart me. I am in LOVE with the way she talks about going for the free meals, her mom having 7 kids and how it would take so much to feed them, all on her own... I have 5 kids, and they get free meals at school, or on a bus sometimes that comes to our neighborhood. Shoot- I still remember my free meals too! It makes one feel better, to know we're not alone, that we have so many commonalities- despite where we come from, and that we can be proud! That we can remember some of the harder places that we've come from, and still connect and still be proud. That was cool. :-)
