Pollux finally takes a dog DNA test! Pollux's dog adoption videos have gone viral, and it's time to find out what breed Pollux is. I'm showing you how to do a dog DNA test using the Wisdom Panel Essential dog DNA kit. Is my dog a Border Collie as we suspect? It's time to find out!

I've had 3 Border Collies in all,my first 2 were mother and son,brilliant dogs,and great family pets,both died of old age,I was heartbroken.I now have a Border Collie pup,he willl be a year old in August,have had my problems with him lol So intelligent,wee bit headstrong,but adorable and I cant imagine my life without him.

We all love Pollux because it's such a feel good story. I know I'm a sap for happy fur baby stories and watching Pollux transform and learn to navigate in the real world has been precious. I have been waiting for this day ever since you adopted Pollex because my baby looks exactly like him...only he is black and white...I did the Embark test and he is 100 percent European village dog!!! I knew when I saw him several months ago that he is a sheep herding breed. I will email a picture. The most common personality of sheepherding breeds is to run circles. Those breeds are collies and shelties and sheepdogs. A good vet would have recognized this especially if you mentioned that he does circles. PEACE

Although he did seem a bit miffed at you after you collected the sample. It's a good thing our fur babies are so forgiving, isn't it? I felt for you, trying to collect the sample. Many years ago, I was an older volunteer at a local no-kill outfit. A young woman started volunteering, who just loved dogs, had adored them all her life. One of her first assignments was to prepare "cage cards" for a batch of newly-arrived dogs, and fill in a best guess as to each dog's possible breed. She looked at about six or eight new arrivals and had each one perfectly categorized as a South Norwich Sandy-Coated Terrier or a East Baratarian Waffenpinscher or maybe a Memphis Catahoula or some damn thing. Utterly useless to our purposes, but fuckin' awesome encyclopedic knowledge, from eyeballing each dog, bless her! If my old memory serves, she was Tiffany Quiroz, from Pet Orphans in Van Nuys, back around the early '00s. Brilliant young lady, no idea where she is now. Salud!

I did the exact same one for my dog and felt that the results were very accurate. I'm so glad that you are doing this and I can't wait to see what it says. Thanks for sharing. Grey hair update...my grey is about 2 plus inches grown in. My 'grey' coming in looks blond still, even though I am 65 years old. The line of demarcation is just barely noticeable between my 'grey blond' coming in and the blond growing out. That makes it a little less uncomfortable for the transition. I have not seen anyone in any of the grey blogs with the strange color that i have coming in. It's very unusual. I'm hanging in there, thanks to you!

WELCOME TO MY CURLS I said some hound & the more I stare at him I might add some collie, but I still go with at least walker hound cause he looks like mine did. Idk! So hard to tell. One last thing: my Darby is Blue Heeler & not sure if something else. I rescued her off the street trying to eat rocks & she had been abused. So, I have one that doesn’t like anything done in the mouth especially but not even to wipe her eyes when allergies act up. PS-question about hair: I watched your video why u let it go grey. I got one grey hair at a time starting at 16 & pulled them. Had jet black hair. Also, had wavy hair that got really curly & frizzy here in Louisiana. Such humidity! I color mine & have the same issue you said-dye doesn’t go with complexion anymore. I’m 67. My hair isn’t a nice grey color so as of now, I still color every 4 weeks. Now I’m gradually going lighter but the roots get horrible. Sun makes them orangy & complexion has a yellow tint (I think). Any suggestions on a color to try? If I had the nerve to let it grow longer it would look exactly like yours which looks great. No idea what mine would do! It’s going through the stages that will drive me nuts. You’re so fun to watch on your videos & we need something to brighten our lives these days. My babies are the loves of my life. So glad y’all adopted that boy & Maxxie is adorable!

That’s so cool! I did one on my shelter dog right away, so many wondered. Shelter said Chi x mini Aussie. Embark results: 48% Chihuahua, 30% Pom, 10% Lhasa Apso, 7% cocker spaniel, 4% min pin and 1% wolf!!! I wish. Could post a picture, he is 14 lbs and looks like a chihuahua German shepherd mix, so cute! Excited to see Pollux’s results!

Whatever Pollux is genetically, is so distant from the joy and happiness he brings to your family. "Po" (with your videos he's part of my daily video routine check up and so I write it as a term of endearment, please don't feel offended) is most probably a mixed breed with predominant characteristics of certain breeds , but he's a beautiful dog no matter what breed he finally is and I'm so certain that your love and attention has done wonders for him since day one. 💝

My girl doesn't look very "houndy", with the long ears and more squared nose, like Pollux doesn't look really "houndy". But, her DNA confirmed she was like 50% TWC, 25% husky and some beagle. (I just looked up her results, I thought her TWC % was higher, but still it's her primary breed). I might be completely wrong (it's happened once or twice in the past 🤣🤣) - but either way it'll be exciting to see what his results are!!!

Can’t wait to find out what breed Pollux is. Very glad he settled down. We have a huge battle each year when it comes to our dog’s kennel cough vaccination up the nose (just a fluid, no needle of course) but it’s sadly mega traumatic for her. Hope Pollux got a big treat after you did the sampling. I think there is some greyhound and/or whippet in him because he is so fast. Maybe also a bit of a saluki (not sure exactly how that is spelt, but we have a friend with a greyhound/saluki cross who is very similar to Pollux. Pollux has such a sweet, playful personality. I agree with the collie/sheltie/shepherd/American foxhound theories. I also think he may have a bit of beagle, corgi and lab/golden retriever in there too. I also think that Max has some poodle or cabochon mixed in, he is such a love.

Seeing Pollux's reactions when you tried to take the swap reminded me again so much of how my adopted mix breed dog reacts. He was very weary of being touch on his paws and especially mouth and he made it know by growling. I thought I would never be able to brush his teeth. Well, that is another subject. We have done the Wisdom Panel DNA test for my dog Roux as well (years ago). One side was very clear, one of his parents was pure Husky, the other parent was a mix of different breeds but one breed stood out. Since I saw Pollux's first video I suspect that he too is part Husky and his longer than Husky snout and slender build make me think of sight hound like Greyhound. Absolutely convinced Pollux is a collie mix.....mainly collie. Note there are different types of bearded collies,long/short coat,height,weight etc.His character is so typical of them...he reminds me of my collie mix, the energy,intelligence,fun loving,affectionate,even comical traits are all typical. Thank you for rescuing this adorable furball....having been in kennels since birth.....I think you said over a year? Is that correct? Good luck with the DNA test Our Harley passed away at 20 yrs old..having had an amazing life, watching the children grow from babies to adults...boy was he patient with them ! He always curled up in the footwell on long journeys and slept curled into a ball with his head under his beautiful bushy tail. RIP Harley.🇬🇧🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❣️

Basenji was one of the breeds I thought of in the very beginning too. I definitely see characteristics of a German Shepherd. I can see Treeing Walker Coonhound, as well. My great uncle raised that breed, along with Blue tic hounds.

Guessing about Pollux, before I watch the end of this video, I line up among the Jack Russell bettors, and the Border Collie crowd. I'd place a side bet on something Australian, Aussie Cattle, or Aussie Shepherd, or some such. Thanks for showing us your back-seat restraint system. That looks well put together. Can it, or would it ever, stretch to accommodate an extra passenger? Penny used to invite herself along in someone else's car, if she knew we were all going to the same place.

Have followed you since I seen your first video telling about Pollux. Just love hearing about Maxxie and Pollux! I did DNA on our Border Collie thinking she was mixed with Husky because have to force her to come in when temps are below freezing. Nope came back 100% Border Collie. I am thinking Pollux has Smooth Border Collie mixed with some Hound.

In the comments on one of your other videos somebody suggested that he is a Feist. I had never heard of it so I Googled it and his look and the breed description fits. They are a mix of 3 different hunting terriers and were bred in the South of the USA. This will be very interesting to see the results.

I just received the results from the exact same DNA test. My vet and the shelter, I adopted her from, said she was a shepherd mix but low and behold she was not!!!!!! She looks kind of similar to Pollux but she turned out to be boxer, chow chow, golden retriever and husky. Shocking news we never would have guessed. I would do the exact test every time I get a new pet from the shelter. Can't wait to hear your results.

Oooo thanks for the info!! I can’t wait to get the results. It was my vet who suggested Pollux was a border collie so I’ve always stuck with that thought. Guess will know soon enough. And I have a feeling we are all going to be surprised at the truth 😀

p.s. I sent email hoping that YOU would take a DNA - That it would be interesting. There have been many videos on people doing this and they are always very fun, exciting videos to watch. Maybe some time You will take the test as many of us had and it would be interesting to share.

We had a tree walking coonhound that we took in when a neighbor moved. Pollux does look like her. We also had a Shelby that had the tail like Pollux. Anxious to see what the results reveal.
