Just found your channel last night watching the dirt bike lift that doubles as a fab table, and I'm loving the content! Stoked to build my own. Can't wait to see the TIG in action on this thing. May have moved up to the top of my list for which welder to buy after seeing the tig quality. Getting back into fabrication after about 15 years. Making custom stuff for mine and my wife's dirt bikes, so I'm mainly gonna be welding aluminum. Appreciate your knowledge and insight!

This model usually gets great reviews. I was going to get this same model, but it doesn't have high frequency start for TIG welding. I think that they are around $400 and are a great MIG welder for that price. Way better than Harbor Freight. If you aren't going to do much TIG welding and only want to MIG and stick weld, these are a big bang for your buck.

Looking into a welder that can do most things well, but TIG/welding aluminum will be my primary focus. What are the advantages of having high frequency start for a TIG welder, and what exactly does it help with if you don't mind the question?

@@korabeats_ High frequency start will allow you to initiate the arc without the electrode touching the material that you are welding. It prevents the tip of your electrode from getting damaged or broken when the point touches the metal. Search KZbin for videos that show how the high frequency TIG works to get a clearer picture of how much it helps compared to the old scratch start method. The old method can also cause your electrode to stick to the workpiece. I hope that this helps. I am sure that you will enjoy TIG welding. I would also invest in a decent auto darkening helmet. They are also worth the money and the darkness is adjustable, as well as the speed and sensitivity. Good luck!

@@RobbieGraybeal Awesome! I really appreciate the in depth reply. That definitely sounds like it'd be insanely useful and end up saving you money in the long run not having to continually buy new tungsten electrodes when first learning, or being damaged from constant striking. When I was learning how to stick weld years ago, the sticking upon striking was definitely frustrating. Auto darkening I'm sure is a must! Never had one back in high school when learning, and not being able to see what you were doing before the muscle memory was down was a complete pain. Thank!
