Gramma & grandpa, and mom/siblings grew up in Goodsprings. Jacobson was their name. I visited many times as a youngin’ and go back as often as I can. I LOVE GOODSPRINGS! And I’ll be back and I’m 70 now. The Historical Society has helped this town so much, thanks to the lead of Steve Fleming and the ol’timers. Love ya mom and still Love your town.

Pastor at church this morning said something about imagination in his sermon. While I don’t remember his exact words, I’m reminded of your creations Steve. It’s like you never grew out of having a child like imagination. Whether building cool rods or rebuilding a historic town, acting upon your imagination is like acting out childhood games.

I like the analogy : I'm circling the drain, in regards to life and time. We're the same age, so I understand how you feel about change. I've lost my family : both parents, 2 sisters and my only brother. I have one sister left who's fighting breast cancer and having suffered so much loss, I've learned that what time we do have on this great planet should be spent doing what we love and making it a better place for everyone to enjoy.

Do NOT deny yourself the amazing jump into history of having wood cook stove chili and cornbread on cold day. My gramma cooked on wood her entire life. Nothing was better than chicken fried in cast iron or the chili/soup that cooked from daybreak til lunch and hot, fresh corn bread from that oven.

The day you stop dreaming is the day to pack it up in my view! You definitely have a great sense of direction and it will be great once you get just a little done so then you can see the bigger picture. We are the same age and I still dream big. I know my body isn't that of a 25 year old but I accept that. 3 years ago I sold up and moved from the town where I grew up in and moved to the edge the Lake District in England which is my dream. Just an old land settlement cottage with a little land and garage so now just making it ours. It's also on my list to come and visit you! Take care.

That's funny Steve I was just having this conversation with my sister we were talking about people taking poops 3 -4 time's a day I was saying they are eating to much. People living in the Early teen's and before had to work to eat before refrigerator they either ate veggies or an eggs, Bacon something that last a few day's . I have been thinking how my great great grandparents survived that's why I'm here today. I often think how they got by day to day I always get people telling me that me and my brothers reminds them of people that lived back in the 1950's they way we speak and the way we do thing's around the compound.

But Steve every thing these days are going sideways. I work mobile mechanic and landscaping. Road house 66 was always a movie favorite of mine and I’ve always wanted to come see your state. It's great to see your interest in bringing back some of the history of Goodsprings. It's such a cool little town. If you ever interested in exploring some of the old mines in the area, I'd be glad to take you through a couple of them that are close by. (Or I can send underground photos and videos of them.) The miners pulled a LOT of zinc & lead (and a bit of gold) out of the hills around town. They really are quite amazing. There was a narrow gauge railroad that hauled ore from the Yellowpine mine down to a railhead in Jean. Of course there was a mill just outside of town that processed ore from some of the other local mines. So much history in the area. 👍

Nice ambition Steve.., Go Goodsprings! I like Nevada BTW! You have alot of the resources and things there on the property as you said. I love old history about mining, the old west, cars and or automobiles from yesterday. Real American history. If we lose our History, we lose our Identity to who we are as a people. I know there are alot of people that could care less, but there are people that still care and ones that are waiting to hear it, just don't know it yet. Your story is one that needs to be wrote and told and I promise you someone will listen. Our country was built on farming, mining, manufacturing and just making things. We need to get back to that in one form or another. I think you can make your dream happen.👍 Thanks for sharing. 👍🇺🇸👍

I would’ve really liked to have done something similar myself but I don’t think I’m gonna get there in this lifetime. I pretty much lost everything taking care of a parent with ALZ for 10 years and than a foreclosure sale in the house I’ll I have is most of my tools and equipment and a tiny camper and Jeep that the bank owns. What that was my dream as well.

Very cool I was in New Brunswick years ago and they gathered up all the old buildings around the Provence and made an old Acadia town. Some of those buildings went back to the 17 hundreds. To go into the town we had to park outside the gate and take a horse drawn wagon in. The town had shops and all of the town was ran like it was back in the 17/18 hundreds. It was very cool. Your vision for such a town would sure be a blast from the past.

There is a lot of truth in the words you say. America was BUILT not bought. I'm only 61 and feel like the last of the dinosaurs. We do need to get more on the job kids that will get blisters, bleed and appreciate a finished project. A big circle sawmill to make beams and lumber from big cleanup logs would be very useful in the remodels. The firewood bucksaw can chop the smaller stuff up. (A big Woodmizer bandmill would be more effective, but you wouldn't get the circle saw tooth marks on the finished product) I built a small circle mill from old edger saws I picked from a cleanup at the mill I worked at. 20 years ago. My dad would visit, and I'd saw lodgepole into lumber with him. He was born in 1927 and taught me if you couldn't buy it, you built it. He was a millwright, so I was too. My on the time in the job lasted 30 years. My son followed me in the millwright/mechanic career as well. Now his 15 year old son is a crafty mosquito as well. I may need to do a road trip one day to see your place. Maybe after I'm healed up from my last surgery, I will actually make the trip. Life is short and even shorter when heaven calls your wife home.

When you're ready to build and need soil reports/drilling. Call up Mr. Rose with the twice blown up Datsun truck you worked on. Ask for Logans number and we can get things going quick on a damn good budget.
