Thanks Rafael. Excellent video. This is good stuff. I am sorry you are sick. Get well very soon.

Really nice design and fab work. Just before seeing your video, I had an epiphany while watching review of HF welding cart. Decided to repurpose 18"x30" rolling Craftsman tool cabinet inherited from my dad...three full width drawers and bottom full width helmet storage bay with pull down door. Decided to remove cart wheels and bolt two 2"x10" boards to bottom of cart extending from both ends to form mig/tig and oxy-acetylene tank racks. Add tank safety chains, cable/hose holders; reattach wheels to 2xs beneath tank platforms. Very little work for a very flexible, serviceable, inexpensive welding cart. May add 2" receiver hitch to accept removable vise and other accessories. Hinge fab table top from rear side with swing down legs.

Thanks Rafael! Great Design, Great execution. You saved me making a huge mistake building a typical cart when the the tool chest is really needed. Respect.

How many people watching this now stopped and checked the upload date the first time he mentioned he was sick to see if it was uploaded pre-covid? Awesome carts!!

Thanks for showing me the use of PVC. I have been looking for welding rod holders over here in Thailand and so far, they do not exist for purchase but, now I can build some. Thanks a million Alvarez Metal Works!

Not sure why the skeleton frame around the tool cabinet. Cabinet has its own structural strength...it doesn't have a skeleton is original service. Attach two 2x8s or 2x10s or 2X12s to casters original attachment points extending beyond cabinet to form cylinder platforms...out both sides holds mig/tig and ox/acet cylingers. Paint 2Xs and all additions to match cabinet. Extend 2Xs slightly further beyond cylinders provides mount for accessories holder box/ frame/"peg board" for hoses/cables/accessories. Brace accessories holder via support from cabinet between cylinders. Ratchet straps attached to cabinets holds cylinders better than chains. Worm-screw hose clamps attached to cabinet or box/frame/"pegboard" as earlier holds PVC rod tubes. Hang collapsed HF welding table from cabinet rear. Easy peazy, less work, just as functional, low cost.

I have watched a few cart making videos and I like the one where a guy bent a sheet of steel for the gas tank vrs your welded one. but I don't have a steel bender so I will be doing mine just like yours.

Nice looking carts. I have the Everlast 256S. I like it but don't like switching from Tig to Plasma. Got another Plasmw cutter so I don't have to switch everything. There Nice machines.
@AMetalWorks7 жыл бұрын
Thank you. That's one of the few reasons I don't like multi process machines... They have their place but for someone who wants their shop to grow. You will out grow a multi process machine pretty quickly. Access to your tools should be easy. Spending time setting things up sucks and get's old fast lol.

I've got to do something similar with my everlast welders. Great job fabricating those.

What did you do for cable hooks? Are they on the backside of the cart? I have a bottom cabinet ordered from Lowes for store pickup, which should be in today or tomorrow. I'm going to replace an old smaller sized tool chest bottom with the new cart and use the older bottom chest for the cart. I was trying to think about where to put tig filler tubes and your cart design solved the problem. I plan on puttin a couple of horizontal strap across the back of the frame to mount cable holders. I'm also going to put the casters under the cart to help keep the length of the cart a little shorter. I'm going to steal your top tank support idea. Nice job on the carts.

I haven't made them yet lol. So I guess the floor or the welding table would be the answer for now lol. I plan on putting them under the handles.

I forgot to mention that I also have the Evolution Rage 3 saw. I've had it for about 2 years and have it mounted on a cheaper miter saw stand from Menards. Great saw and exceptionally great customer support from Evolution with a problem that I had with blades..

@AMetalWorks7 жыл бұрын
Joshua Odowd Thank you. Glad that shows because I really do take a lot of pride in my work. I don't like short cutting even when I know it's necessary. It bothers me when I know I can do better. I had to short cut a little on these just because time is money and I need to get back to work on project tow rig and project pathfinder. Got to clean shop first though. This was apart of that process.

What blade do you have on that saw? I have the same saw but my stock blade has a different tooth pattern. Love the cart I’ve been thinking about doing something similar.

Evolution's steel blade. The blue one.

Those Welding carts turned out great. Your giving m some ideas. Been thinking about buying a small inverter based tig , then I would need to make a cart for it. You could also start selling a kit for building them.

Nice! I built a welding cart last summer that's a very similar concept. Definitely makes it easy to keep all your tools and consumables organized and close at hand!

Exactly! Need to keep things practical and simple so getting to your tools isn't a job in itself.

Hey there Rafael. So, do you still like the saw. I've been thinking about a metal cutting chop and I haven't seen the sliding miter before. Maybe I'll wait a bit longer and check this type out for a while. Nice build.
@AMetalWorks7 жыл бұрын
James Gulrich yes I still like the saw. I now have their EvoSaw380 too. That has a much larger blade so I tend to use that one way more now. However I break the rage 3 out whenever I need that slide function (to score plate steel) or if I need a compound miter cut. Once I finally move into my own place I'll set both saws permanently. They both have their place in my shop.
